My wife totally loves skiing once we're out on the mountain but, she wouldn't miss it at all if she skipped a season.

I'd like to be able to... someday. Right now, I'm still trying to catch up for all the extra years that Brian has under his belt. He learned to ski as a child; I've only really skied for 2 seasons now (that season that was only 2 days doesn't really count ). I'm working on it. :D

my wife doesn't "rip" per say but will ski almost anything. I'll take that over a wife that won't ski or a base mom.

The reality is, there are many women who rip it up in the steeps, bowls and moguls, but the ratio still remains strongly testosterone based, and still there are many women who are content to be passionate about skiing while happy to be front side groomer girl.

I ski 50 days a year, while my sisters are a different, (older sister) content to ski a couple times a year with the family, (baby sister) skis 15 days a year, and wants desperately to get her husband to go. They will likely never be more than 20 day a year skiers.
There are only a handful of women on our local hill whom I'd consider rippers.
Look at any tailgate party in the parking lot. Bet its at least 5/1 male/female.

My girl skis.... Shes pretty good.. not really aggressive.. But she can get down most stuff that doesn't require skis leaving the terrain..
She has fun...

we don't really ski together though... She's too slow for me... Or I'm too fast for her.. Depends on who you ask...

It is quite humbling at times.

She had a head start though. When I was struggling on the slopes of Camelback as a teenager, she was bashing bumps and arials on a national level.

Interesting thread. We're different from most. My wife grew up skiing in the Berkshires. I grew up playing hockey. She dragged me onto the slopes after we were married and I went reluctantly. As a D-1 college athlete, I found it humbling that a "girl" was better at something athletic than I was. Over the years we've both improved considerably. I've grown to love skiing and now we are both about the same level of competence. We've skied all over North America, our grown kids are both experts. We're now retired but we still go 9-4 and rip up bumps and trees. There's nothing on the mountain that I can do and she can't and vice versa. Not everyone can say that their best ski buddy is their wife. Our main problem is that we have a hard time finding couples our age to ski with.

The few times I've see Mrs Snowbunski do Nastar...she had such an enthusiasm and grit of determination..she'd give Nastar Glenn a run for his money..no no no:razz:

I didn't know you grew up at Camelback, must have been a few years behind me.

Grew up in NJ. Didn't start skiing until 1990. Camelback, Shawnee, Vernon Valley/Great Gorge and the occasional long haul to Hunter.

I skied it, maybe 5 times since 87. Never mind.

BTW, great running into you in Big Sky.
