I love Thompson Brook area. Perhaps some of the steepest and tightest wooded lines out there. I know i've grabed onto a few trees in there for evasive action! Definately not for an intermediate.

hey loafer just noticed you went to wildcat a day afer me, ya that weekend was crap, by far my worst day ever at wildcat... still had fun though, only reason is because i love to kill myself with sick terrian, with rock hard moguls and ice and rocks

heres my pics from that day notice the sarcasm about sayin that conditions were good

I was also at Wildcat that same day (it was Easter weekend), and if those are the worst conditions you have ever seen at Wildcat, you have not seen it even close to its worst. I was also there the weekend prior, and while I noticed a significant amount of deterioration between the two weekend, 3/25 was not bad at all. We were pretty happy with the conditions. We managed to crank out about 20 runs in about 5 hours. Pretty good for someone who doesn't ski warp speed.

the pictures you posted are all of trails that do not have snowmaking. Feline is a liftline with a very quick drop before it connects to Lynx. That is ALWAYS a sheet of ice - when it has snow. I don't recall if the triple was running that day, but I do remember a day when it was running, some clown had his whole fam damily on that trail. Needless to say, some people were very frightened. If you take that lift up, see how bad it is, and STILL ski it....well, no sympathy here.

Al's Folly isn't worth doing unless it's a powder day.

I own a house about 12 miles from Wildcat and have spent quite a bit of time in the Valley over the last 8 or 9 years. Judging the conditions at Wildcat on any given day is an art. Even then, it's a crapshoot. Actually, on 3/25, I had heard it would be around 45-50. It was snowing on the summit for a good part of the day. You never know what you are going to get there, especially with the wind. Your best bet is to keep your edges sharp and the powder skis in the rack, just in case. You never know when a storm will blow in from across the street.

as for the races, that is something I have run into some issues with. It's not like SR, where you can spread out. It is more difficult at Wildcat to deal with the races. Lower Wildcat turns into a hockey rink with a speed bump, right where all the racers bang a right to the course. Outside of things the mountain can't control, that is my only complaint about the place.

So Wildcat will remain open for upcoming ski season's correct? Wildcat is great. I once skied a trail of blue ice... talk about fun. I also skied there April Vacation and it was much better than Bretton Wood's due to the steepness of the terrain. Very fun place. I really hope everything turns out alright and okay and I hope it only gets better... and they don't turn my stashes into trails!!!
