not with our crew. we're just lowly internet gapers from alpinezone who can only ski bumps at sundown. we have no ego's.

except for grassi, he has a huge head.

Oh, I know----I wasn't referring to any CLITS---I know better than that. :p

Carrie i "hear " you . Normally one can guage a down hill skiers " turn pattern" and act accordingly . An obvious newby ALWAYS will get a very wide berth from me and most of us

In my situation, 99.99% of the time these behaviors are not used. it is only in the extreme when an obviously inconsiderate skier "continually" hogs the trail width as a matter of "constant" practice without concern for others on the hill -----not justifying it , just qualifying it .

Not really. A little annoying, but I typically try to wait it out. If the newbs weren't ever skiing the bumps at Sundown, we certainly wouldn't have bumps at Sundown so most of the time we try to be patient. And even if I was totally aggravated, I wouldn't be coming up with ways to get revenge.

Maybe it's more a Killington thing

Sounds to me like you weren't skiing fast enough to lose the guy... Next time ski faster, and/or on harder terrain...

It is interesting though. I over took a woman once on Springfling. Wide open groomer that day and she was making wide turns I over took her as she arced an overly big fat wide turn that was not consistent with the other turns she was making. She went nuts was screaming at the lift that I almost hit her. I told her where to go since she was off her rocker! Told her to stay consistent with her turns and I passed you when you were turning away. I probably ruined her day, she was cryingwhining so bad for Win to rescue her from this crazy out of control skier. oh well mine was great! It was also early in morning when no one else was around so the trail was wide open and people have to expect people to be getting some good speed at those times. I obviously still laugh about it. What I really wonder is do these people really think I would want to hit her and ruin my perfectly good day. I think not! Now lets all do a snow dance folks we need some real natural again!

I want a better description of exactly what was going on here. By "trail wide GS turns ", do you mean:

- Long, wide sweeping turns with little angulation, at medium-low speed, say 20-30mph, possibly not carving, cutting across the fall line in between them.

- GS to Super-G carved turns at 45-60mph+, lots of angulation.

.......because, I ski the 2nd fairly often, and am NEVER passed. In fact, I usually have to let the trail clear for about 150-200 yards below me, because otherwise I'll catch and have to pass people within seconds. 60mph = 88 ft/sec.

There is no way I'd be able to look behind me when skiing like that.......

much more like the first, scaling the width of the trail and looking up the trail while doing so. like I said, I was by myself I probably would have just blown by the guy but I need to get a faster skiing girlfriend lol

So, was the guy actually carving, or was he just working on his gaper-instructor turns?

The looking up the hill was probably so he wouldn't get hit from behind.....

Speaking of Hunter and big GS turns, were things still really flat there this weekend other than upper Xover and lower K?
