Have you ever had to take an entire season off from skiing? Could be because of illness, injury, family, job, moving, school, other interests, etc. I thank God I haven’t had to.

If you have what was the reason and how did you cope?

Sort of. The first few years of the 2000's have been low-no skiing years for me. I was skiing regularly throughout the 90's (20+ days a season). Then I got married in 2001, bought a house (actually on our third house now), had a kid (now 2), and money got tight, and suddenly I was down to 2-3 days a year. I think in 02-03 I didn't ski at all. Last year I got a pass to Wachusett, joined beer league racing and started teaching my daughter to ski. I've got the fever back and want to make this a great year. :spread:

In 1994-1996 I skied 75 days/year at Vail/Beaver Creek. Moved to NYC after that, skied 1 day at Hunter in December my first year back, and decided to hang them up after that miserable experience. It wasn't until 2000 that I started to ease back into the Eastern skiing thing.

HEH! Took several years off actually.

Learned to Ski in ITaly in 78/79.

Moved to VA for six months, then to Kentucky for 5 years (bought a house...added two kids to the one we had).

Then moved here (MA) making not much money and paying a mortgage.

Didn't start back up till #2 son was 10...so that's about a 15 year break.

I didn't mind since it wasn't a high priority back then....but to consider NOT skiing now...can't do it.

@ 52...every year I ski now is that much more important.

Winter 96 through Spring 98 I did not ski due to having other pursuits my first two years in College. It was not a big deal, skiing was not a huge priority in my life, even though I wanted it to be, due to other more important priorities. Skiing isn't everything, ya know ;) Okay, well it wasn't for me back then :)

Missed all of 99/00 and 00/01 (2 straight seasons) with injuries.

Nothing 6 surgeries didn't fix.

Lol I actually mentioned that a little while ago http://forums.alpinezone.com/3821-guess-ski-area-135.html?highlight=dizin

Dizin, Iran, about 70 miles north of Tehran, right off the highway, ya can't miss it!

Hey and if you can afford to get there you can take comfort in knowing that lift tickets are only the equivalent of 4 dollars, which in Iran is in the high price range.

So cheap prices and no lift lines! :)

I did not ski at all during 1993-1994 and 1996 -1998. My wife and I were having children then plus I was in graduate school from 93-97. Not much time (or money) to go skiing at that time. I was not happy about it but I've been trying to make up for all those lost years ever since. While I wouldn't want to relive those years, I'm very happy that I have my children and my current career. So those years weren't a complete loss despite the lack of skiing.

Nope, it was more like eight plus season's worth, and it was called an actress girlfriend who became my actress wife, who contractually couldn't do anything that would cause her to break into more pieces during a job than she started with before the job began.

But now she's called my ex-wife, and life on the stix is good again ( karma's a bitch sometimes ).

How did I cope? Ignorance is bliss/ain't luv grand, and, if you buy that, I've got a bridge I can sell you in Brooklyn.

Much more importantly though, are you getting ready to tell us something here, 'cause I know your wife isn't an actress?

Surely you're joking.

If you're talking about my response to HPD, yeah, there was a little bit of dead pan thrown in here, and there, but, for the most part, just the facts.

Something specific you want to question, or was this just a little after work angst?

No I'm good, but lets get back to the actress thing. You never told me that, come on I gotta know. If you don't want to spill the beans in front of the whole gang PM me.

I hope she was/is a porn star. ;-)
