I know you are still working on it, but this gave me a chuckle

Home > Skiing > New England Ski Resorts > Ski New Jersey

Looks like Jersey has moved to New England. Why not, most New Jersians already have! (including me)

This actually stems from my attempt at keyword optimization for the search engines. It seems more folks search on "ski new england" than "ski northeast". I've changed it to simply, "Ski Resorts & Ski Areas".

While I appreciate the contributions from the nice people from New Jersey in this forum, I'm not sure if I like the idea of the web site branching out of New England. I know Greg wants to make his users happy, but I think this is the beginning of a loss of focus. Just my opinion.

It's Northeast Guide to Mountain Adventure... not New England.

If Greg started adding Colorado resorts (yikes!) then I think that would be stretching the scope.

We talk about Adirondack hiking all the time. I think it's fine to include Mid-Atlantic on the site.

IMHO.

I already branched outside New England last year when I added New York. I don't have any immediate plans to expand beyond the "Northeast". There are already enough national skiing Web sites, e.g. Snowjournal, GoSki, OnTheSnow, etc... This latest expansion will include PA, NJ, MD (yes, there is one resort there), VA and W. Va. While Pennsylvania is generally considered "Northeast", MD, VA, and W. Va are really Mid-Atlantic. However, there are only 9 resorts in those three states, so I decided to lump them in. Overall, the site's focus will remain serving "Rightcoast" skiers. I'm not sure if I'll ever include Midwest states.

Watch out though, some young up-and-comer might come along and start a strictly New England ski web site... I will say no more.
