Yea, outfit worth $1500 only if that includes boots, skis, bindings, helmet, goggles, etc. As far as clothing, I think I might have about half of that tops including base layers, pants, jacket, gloves, helmet, and goggles but even then I think it would fall closer to $600 all told.

I also object to $5 hamburger versus $80 lift ticket. Hamburgers cost much more than $5 and no real skier pays $80 for a lift ticket    Flame suit on but it was just a joke!!!

My gear is definitely worth more than my car. Maybe twice as much. Not sure if that says more about my gear or my car....

For sure..$5 isn't alot for a hamburger..at Ruby Tuesdays it's $8-9 for a hamburger..and I've yet to spend $80 on a lift ticket..I did spend $77 on a one day ticket at Jackson Hole and that was well worth it. $77 for 7 hours at Jackson Hole works out to only $11 an hour..

You're a real skier if you can go out in woolies, a sweater, straight skis, sunglasses, and a ball hat and still ski better than anyone on the hill.

Folks, it's not about the gear or what you wear. It's what you can do on a pair of skis and the attitude that accompanies it that makes a real skier in my book.

I bought my bump skis brand new from a friend for $100. I bought my boots at a consignment shop for $70. I got the bindings from a patrol drawing. I have two coats: one is a company coat I wear if I'm working, and one is my mogulskiing.net coat that I paid, all-in, less than $50 for. My hat was free. My goggles were a gift. I don't pay to ski. Period.

So my fiscal commitment is just over $200. And I plan to ski over 120 days this season.

You know you're a real skier if you don't need threads like this to figure out what a real skier is ;) :)

 You know you're a real skier if...

  • Your significant other thinks diamonds are black.
  • Have broken or torn something on your body.
  • You own a $400.00 dress or suit, but have a $1500.00 ski outfit.
  • Have more skiing pictures than wedding pictures.
  • Complain about a $5.00 hamburger, but have no problem paying $80 for a lift ticket.
  • Your ski gear is worth more than your car.
  • You pay off your Visa by the end of summer just to make room for ski season.

I beg to differ.....you know you're a real skiier if:
You don't own a dress suit at all, and you scored your ski gear from an early season ski sale for 150 bucks and a sack of weed.
your ski gear is worth more then your house which is worth 150 bucks and IS your car, unless you shacked up at the bar last night.
You've never had a credit card in your name, but purchased your mid week pass on that girls card....what was her name????
((*
*))
((*
You NEVER pay 80 bucks for a day pass, you pay 20 in the lot for a "half day" or just poach the lift.

I am a fake skier.

Me too... At least your not a "gaper"....

I seem to fail on a few of those things... Because I'm making good $ right now... It's tough for the bourgeois to fit in sometimes... :)

I CAN see ski trails from my house..
