coldest ive done is -23 F at tremblant on blue bird day- +4 degrees with sun not too bad. How does altitude play into it (seriously asking)?
Coldest ever for me was patrolling @ The Cat in approx 2005ish. -30 w/ 90-100mph winds.
We were stranded up top, hunkering down in the shack for 2-3 hours until they brought up a bully for the 3 of us and shut the place down.

I'll be at Sunday River, as usual. I've found that MLK and President's Day weekend are not as busy as they used to be given the Ikon/Silver Pass blackouts; random Jan/Feb weekends are often a lot busier. Wish there were more natural snow but they're doing a great job steadily expanding without it. Only a couple of snowmaking trails left to go. But boy, low tide in the woods - sigh. Where's a good coastal storm when you need one?

Another 4” at BW overnight, skied excellent today. They’ve been getting slowly peppered with snow for about a week. Multiple glades open, and a ton of ungroomed in general.

.... and yet Wildcat remains at only 8 trails or 16% open
Pathetic....
We're planning a Burn Your Epic Pass bonfire for this weekend.

I can barely talk about that, it makes me angry from a distance. The balls on those fuckers to just sit and let it die blows me away.

So while the whole "no coastal storms for New England" pattern is bad for like 80% of the area, the locals at Stowe (and I'm sure it's the same everywhere from Killington to Jay) say they're happy to keep the coastal storms away if the current pattern keeps bringing in the continuous light orographic snowfalls almost daily.

A coastal storm almost always comes with a pattern change. Sometimes even if it's cold enough for all snow, they can open up that dreaded southern flow.

Quite a bit. This is supposed to be a big arctic shot. If someplace like Denver hits a high of 12 like he's saying, up at 10,000 feet I doubt the ambient high will be more than 0 (or likely even a negative high).

Wont be as bad in Utah, but MLK day our little one's supposed to have a clinic, and I doubt the high will be more than like 8 degrees at ~8,300 feet where the lessons run. Kind of brutal for little tykes if there's wind, so hoping not.
Yea a lot of times the cold like this that's backing into the Rockies doesn't really make it over the Divide but this one seems to have eyes on the western slope

We’ll be doing our usual trek to the mountain Saturday for the kids’ development program. I’m flying for a work trip Sunday, with a “travel day” Wednesday in Denver before meetings. Looks like I’m going to just miss the brutal temps at vail…

Snowbasin as usual. We have been toying with the idea of skipping Saturday or Sunday. Back in the East Sunday was the busy day but in Utah with the LDS we think Saturday might be the worst.
