Last season I had at least 5-6 "perfect days". Steamboat Powdercats were 2 of them, only 8 of us on the mountain and had fresh lines EVERY run. Snow was bottomless and still dumping the whole time. Thank You K2, it was a trip to remember.

St. Patricks Day two years ago was one of those freak storms, my son and I were at Kton and we skied 18" of the lightest snow I have ever skied in the east.

The perfect ski day for me includes vibe, snow conditions and the company I share it with.
I had several that fell into that category during my trip to Montana last spring. The two days that served up the most amazing snowgasms were (1) skiing thigh deep powder in Liberty Bowl Big Sky and (2) an unexpected dump day at Bridger with amazing snow, amazing company and huge grins had by all!

Of course I am down with an empty mountain getting puked on with the best flour.....but I gotta give a nod to that first spring condition day where its pushing 70 for the first time in months, the mashed potatoes are thick and bumpy, coverage is still phenomenal from a good winter, everyone is in shorts and Tshirts, and the beer is flowing / doob is burning. Its that cap on the good season that leaves you looking forward to the summer. Its that day that is a contradiction in itself, skiing and sweating with a smile on your face in bright sunshine. Love that ski boot line on the sunburn. That's one of many types of perfect days.

None taken.

Not all of us are lucky enough to live at the base of a decent ski area. Maybe if I skied more I would change my statement.

:puke:

no offense...

my sentiments as well...you just beat me to it.

Sure, any day on the hill is better than a day in the office...but not every day is "perfect" or even epic. the whole point of the thread is to hear what your BEST day would be...if you were in control of the conditions and could make them anyway you'd like them to be, what would THAT day be like.
All I said was waist deep...but I'll elaborate...I prefer the deep days when its still dumping all day long to the picture perfect blue bird powder day. On those blue bird days everyone and their brother are out there and your best runs tend to be your first few runs. On the days where its dumping all day there are fewer people, there's less of a rush to get to every stash because you know it just keeps getting more and more snow...I prefer the solitude that heavily falling snow brings...its nature's mute button. There's less whoooping and woohooing echoing through the hills and you can hear the snow falling...I feel more relaxed and less rushed...more at peace with everything around me...and you get to finish the day knowing that, since its still dumping, tomorrow may be even better. :snow:

I agree with your sentiment as it relates to the purpose of the thread. However, I would argue that for some people, myself included, every ski day is epic. Skiing is my passion and any day I get to pursue my passion is an epic day in my book. Perhaps the poster didn't answer the question as intended, but I can certainly understand where they are coming from.

Hell yeah...Storm days are where it's at...sunshine is over-rated. Plus when it's dumping, your last run of the day is often the best and deepest. Riding a lift with falling snowfall is better than anything I have done this summer. When I think about it..it makes me long for the upcoming ski season even more...later on when I have a little more time to elaborate..I'll write about some of my best ski days for stoke!!!!!

I guess I'm just jaded or spoiled and ski too much...because I don't consider the days that I've skied in freezing rain or the -30 day that always seems to follow a june-uary thaw and freezes the mtn up firmer than a skating rink to be "epic". Would I trade one of them for today, hell yeah. I'd be willing to bet if we kept this discussion up we'd find out that your "epic" meter has a range on it...from 1-10 or 1-100 or 5-10....whatever, but I'm sure you'll agree that some of your days have been more epic than others.

I most definitely have an epic meter! Some days are MUCH better than others and when I am daydreaming about skiing it is about untracked powder, or the perfect Spring day, and not post freeze/thaw cycle or WROD. However, I literally have a blast every day I am on skis, and would consider all of them epic days, just not all epic ski days I suppose. If I had 100 days a season instead of my 35 average I might feel different. Anyway, I definitely understand your point.
