I put 166K on a 1987 S-10 Blazer that had a 5/unlimited GM extended warranty. I'm glad I wasn't paying the repair bills.

I put 140-ishK on a 1992 Mazda Navajo and a 2001 VW GTI. Both were still in perfect mechanical condition when I sold them but I don't like owning cars when they go beyond 150K.

Have 171k on a 2005 Pacifica company car, previous 2 caravans were up around 200k before the transmissions went for the last times.

I have just about 200K on my 01 Passat, but it already had around 150K on it when I bought it a few years ago.

Ok, you twisted my arm!

From parts unknown in the deepest of Old Saybrook CT, the VW 1996s-2005ish, extends from some place in Old Saybrook you can see from I-95 all the way up to Wallyworld, CT. The population is predominantly Volkwagen

In honor of my beloved 2nd car, MKIII (A3 Chasis) 1994 Jetta GL, 2.0 ABA engine with a 5 speed trasmittion, who arrived in America in 1993, from Wolfsburg Germany, first stopping at SpeedCraft VW before going to it's first house in RI. Later, it moved to that dealer I mentioned 200 words above this one; and then I bought it. I have no idea if it went to high school. And as far as I know, cars don't have religions, so it wasn't jewish.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am. Bought it new and ran it to 197k. Got rid of it about 3 years ago ('07) when I got my A4... A4 is currently at 113K, had about 40k on it when I bought it.

Eyes have started wandering of late, but I'm torn between keeping this car as it's pretty close to paid off, or getting something newer.

I know wear items are going to start popping up for me soon... Car was in the dealer today for a coil pack recall... Control arm bushings are gone... so that's the first of the typical 100k items you gotta do on these cars...

Juist hit 240,000 on my 04 Outback.

Put new tires on this past weekend...still runs like a top and up on the lift it looks surprisingly new.

My wife's 96 Legacy has 210,000.

Great cars.

My 2003 Saturn VUE had 130,000 before I traded it last summer for a new Subaru.
My 1996 Saturn SL2 was at 175,000 before I traded it for the above Saturn in late 2002.
My 1992 VW Jetta ECO-Diesel had just hit 100k before it was totaled and I bought the above new Saturn (my first US built car ever)

Now for the car with the lowest mileage:

My 2006 Scion xA has only 15,770 miles on it. It has only seen snow once.

I plan on keeping the Subi for 7yrs or 200K before it gets replaced.

My first two company trucks were hand-me-downs that I drove to 238k and 248 k respectively (Mid 90s F150s that I got with about 145k on them). Then they finally bought me a new F150 in April of 2005, 13 miles on the odo when I got it. I drove it until December of 2009 and handed it down to someone else with 198k on it. Nothing wrong with it either and I drove it hard. But they put me in a new 2010 2wd Tacoma against my wishes. So far I am so NOT impressed with it (mileage sucks for a 4-cyl and it doesn't have jack for a payload capacity) but they're paying the bill so I'll drive a Le Car if they wanted me to.

Jim, how do you rack up 60K per year?

WJ...i'm in the same boat, got my A4 with 30K on it (just came off lease) bought it out right...now it has 85K and not one issue, car has been rock solid..do need to get the normal stuff done (timing belt, normal mtce) thinking about selling, but its nice not having a payment and i do feel this engine is one of audi's best (b6)..think this car will last quite awhile...

Did you avoid the head gasket issues on both cars? That's the big repair expense that I had to deal with on my '98 Outback...also had some other smaller stuff that started up mostly after 100K miles but I guess that's to be expected.

My wife's car does leak a drop or two of oil now and then.

I did hear that head gaskets are a big issue with Outbacks.

One of my catalytic converters went. Other than that just normal stuff like timing belts and wear items.

For the life of me, I don't understand why some manufacturers still use timing belts. Is there advantage to the belts over chains, which last for pretty much ever?

2002 Subaru WRX bought with 3 miles in November of 2001 and sold with 291,000 miles August of 2009.

Total bill: 1 clutch, 1 radiator, 3 sets of shocks, god knows how many pads and rotors and gallons of Mobil1.

Noise, belts are quieter than chains.

Plus they're probably cheaper and easier to route in different configurations around multiple pulleys. They're also lighter, so they wouldn't hinder acceleration as much, I guess.
