I will say it again Howie. Anything that sends more inexpeirnced skiers into those areas is bad.
no doubt, but I think that ship has sailed. everyone and their mommas are in the trees these days. It's a thing. not like it was 20 years ago.

I’d rather they focus on getting Slidebrook running.
It's too bad that Alterra does not have a discounted multi-mountain pass to print money which would allow them to maintain the lifts at Sugarbush. Oh wait......

Pretty weak IMHO.

There has been nothing new for a couple of weeks on the Slidebrook lift. I have not heard anything behind the scene either. I would bet they gave up and we will not see it this year. Oh well. It does not affect me so I don't really care.

The discount multi-mountain pass isn't working. Vail has a lot of cash on hand yes but they have a lot of debt due soon, they have a lot of aging lifts, and they only putting one new lift in this summer across all their North American resorts.

Heard a rumor on Sunday that Slide Brook is ready to run and was scheduled to be inspected last week but the inspection was cancelled due to weather. No info on if/when it was rescheduled. Still holding out hope that it eventually spins. I'm not a fan of the bus. BTW, Slide Brook terrain was great this weekend despite it being tracked out a bit. Current weather for this week is making me a little nervous.

The ride is a great way to enjoy both mountains and on a sunny March day it is spectacular.

Nowhere now, but everywhere

All the lift access roads were perfectly groomed this weekend, like I have never seen before. This makes me think they could be ready for inspection. Did a 3 o'clock run from the Ellen side Saturday afternoon and had first tracks down one of my favorite runs in Slidey B. Spectacular. The snow was not nearly as wind affected as the snow on the Lincoln side. Then, once we got to the access roads, we had first tracks on perfect corduroy, which was just icing on the cake. The only issue we had was that we had finished our pocket beers after the previous run from the Lincoln side and had to wait to get bused back for nourishment. Life can be tough!

Skiing was phenomenal this weekend...some of the best I have seen in several decades of living here. Lower FIS was outstanding, as was Exterm. No icy bumps, barely any terra firma peeking through. Great stuff.

I agree on the SBX as a really nice March ride...will have to be March '26 at this rate...

Was that in the gossip section?

I find it really interesting. It can't be a random decision. I am wondering what the end game is? Could it really be that they just want a peaceful ski weekend......in a town noted for a 4th of July parade base on political satire and protest? LOL

Is it time to retire the snow report warning about tree wells?
About 10 years ago I skied the woods between Exterminator and Bravo alongside a GMVS (academy) group and two coaches off for a powder day. The snow was deep. We came out around the Way Back traverse but one of the coaches was missing. The other coach and myself backtracked and found him face down in a tree well, unable to get out, but unharmed, skis still on. They guy in the well was ex-USST ski racer but that didn't matter.
Same year, I was following the LT north to do the Hole in the Wall drop on my board. Two patrollers were just in front of me but had gone ahead. I stopped at the top to buckle in my back foot and grabbed a tree but sunk to my neck in a well. In trying to remove my bindings and climb out, a huge pillow from the tree fell on top and nearly buried me. Took about 20 minutes for me to get out and I was exhausted. No way I could have gotten out at my current age, though I still do that line.
Possibly the same year, a UVM student was found dead at Stowe off Hayride upside down in a well. Very sad.
For these reasons, I take uncompacted snow seriously.
