Ducky no doubt you have seen a lot of this. I personally had to get dug out in the pine forest at the very top of Jester. That area at the top to the right of Organgrinder in the first loop of Jester. But that year the snow pack was 6 feet deep up top and the pines were burried. This year there is only 3 feet of snow in the woods and tree wells are minimal except maybe at the very top. I think daily tree well warnings are a little over done. Be safe anyway.

What a strange place for the Vances to visit. There are so many more destination worthy places deep in red territory. Vermont? The mad river valley? lol. Trollin!

Wonder if the Vance visit is the reason a number of lifts are closed today for maintenance? Can't have him stuck on Super B for 40 minutes, that would be a little embarrassing and bad for marketing.

Had an amazing weekend up there these past couple days. Expected insane crowds, but got nothing close to say Loon on a Saturday levels and yesterday never waited more than 3 minutes to go up. Snow was really good, especially over at Ellen. Wife loves the village at LP so I ended up starting both days at Ellen before moving over to LP for the afternoon runs. Ellen really goes hold on to the quality snow so much better than the LP side, it's impressive. I must say, all the lifts seemed to be running pretty good, no long stoppages that I noticed on either side. Did not see a single sole anywhere near Slidey B, kind of has the look of never going to spin this year.

It is very strange the he would be coming to MRV and staying at the Pitcher Inn. I'm assuming he probably booked ALL rooms in the hotel and security will be very tight. How does he even get to town? Airforce 2 to Burlington and then helicopter to the Warren Airport? Is he going to go skiing? What the hell will security be like for that? If word gets out that Vance is in town, I can't imagine the protesters that may come out!

I was skiing at Snowmass on 3 different trips when the Obamas were skiing there. Actually had lunch in the same restaurant (Gwyn's High Alpine)

It's on WCAX now so all the loonies will be out. He'll fly to Burlington and drive to the Valley. Warren airport is not open in winter.

this coming weekend is March 1st, not April 1st... I think the Valley Reporter is off by about a month. Got to be.
Or an early April Fool's joke

If it is true, then I will go to LP to watch the shenanigans. Would love to ride the lift with him and ask why he was so conciliatory to the Nazis in his speech a bit ago, among other questions I have for the Yale grad who rails on about the 'elites'... Really curious if he will actually ski...how in the world could you secure a public ski lift? Will be interesting, but I take the under on it even happening...

Welcome to Vermont, dude.

Saw mention of the Vance visit on Reddit last night. Looks like some people are trying to arrange some type of protest.
Will give the Valley Distorter something to cover during school vacation week.

I find it really interesting. It can't be a random decision. I am wondering what the end game is? Could it really be that they just want a peaceful ski weekend......in a town noted for a 4th of July parade base on political satire and protest? LOL
Two years ago I was yelling to Bernie from the hill above the parade ' Bernie! They stole the nomination from you TWICE! TWICE! ' quite a few people around me appeared to be perplexed at my statement. . . . .

peaceful weekend? I'm not sure anything peaceful is possible holding those types of offices. . . . . his wife was a registered Democrat from what I've read. And the Ron Howard produced flick on his life is pretty well done.

snowy weekend predicted at 3000'. . .. crowds let's hope aren't here to ski- maybe protesting instead? Love that freedom to speak ones mind.

I legit have no idea how security would even remotely work for something like this. It just seems like a logistical nightmare. At the very least you would think they would do something midweek instead of anything involving a weekend.

I have a friend who spent most of his career in the Secret Service. Back during the Obama administration the SS had a rather aggressive recruiting effort trying to find advanced level skiers for the presidential protection detail.
My friend was on the Hillary Clinton protection team. The stories are wet-your-pants funny. A stand out was an argument between Hillary and Bill (one of many apparently) the night she lost to Trump, behind a closed door, where they heard Bill say, "at least I won my elections" followed by multiple things being thrown and broken. Lead agent is asked by a team member "Should we go in?" He replied, "fuck no, this one's above our pay grade."

agreed,... Sugarbush is just not set up to handle a high profile person in the middle of peak ski season. I'm just trying to imagine him getting on lifts with his family and security detail,... obviously they cut the line, but how do they secure them when on the trails?
