Still pretty damn cold the past week or so and it seems like it'll remain that way through the weekend at least. So, which ski areas are still undergoing a significant snowmaking effort? I haven't been to too many different places lately, but Sundown's guns have been off the two times I've been up there in the past week. Not sure if they've been resurfacing or stockpiling at night. So what ski areas are still pounding out the snow and on what trails?

Whiteface has been dumping down the product and continues to do so ( I was there today). Theyve been pounding the superpipe, and today they set up the guns on Upper Cloudspin! Theyre still expanding terrain. They also had guns on Lower Valler, Boreen, Upper Valley, Excelsior, and a couple other places. Dont know anyone at the mountain but it doesnt look like theyre going to be stopping anytime soon.

Loon has 2 more weeks of snow making.

For new trails or for resurfacing?

I know Killington has NO PLANS to do anything EXCEPT resurfacing....oh yeah and blowing a bagillion tons of snow onto Outer Limits for a freestyle comp and Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge, then they will promptly CLOSE BEAR MTN...and then close on May 6, 2007 for the season...snow or no snow....

LAME....I so hope that rumor is true...

A bit of both at Loon. They are still finsihing off the Superpie and adding elements to the park and also I think they are going to open another park( Bear Island BiPass.)
A small park/ trail off Bear claw.

Trails Really not much else to add. The word I got this weekend was everything was going to be hit one more time.

Only snow making trails not hit yet I know of are Big Dipper,Bear Island Bipass and Upper north star. Big dipper did open on just natural on Sat. I believe upper Northstar was open as well on Sunday.

Well, NOT Killington...no effort at all there.

Hunter isn't either.

Mountain Creek is pounding away, with what they have, and South and Bear peaks will be opening up for all on Sunday.

I believe Sno Mountain has made some significant snow recently, and Blue has been doing a good deal of snowmaking as well.

No wonder Whiteface is pounding the guns. They have to get that superpipe open for march snowboard cup. Make a ton now while it's easy to make it.

Jiminy is not reporting any snowmaking on their site

I figured they took a few days off because of the long stretch of going all out.

The snow report says it will resume on Thursday

From the Catamount website:

Wachusett still cranks by night. They will do it every night it falls below freezing. If it's below freezing some night in April and they're still open, they'll make snow.

I think the last major trail expansion by anyway was this past weekend when Mount Snow opened up the Sunbrook area. This was quite the suprise as most thought with the late start they wouldn't even bother. The skiing was great over there too! I recommend making the trip....

Sugarbush was still blowing as of Sunday. I skied under a couple guns on Spring Fling and I think I remember seeing some over by the North Lynx chair.

The fact that they're still expanding terrain this time of year, I think, is impressive. Not that I'm prejudice or anything.

Gore is doing it too.

We (Sugarubsh) are still making snow and preparing for the second half of the season. Winter is only half way! Snowmaking this week will likely be on Cliffs and Which Way at ME. Most of the snowmaking trails at LP are in excellent shape but we will be building more depth on some and also resurfacing where needed.

Do us all a favor, buy Killington and show them how it's done :);-)

That would be great, ASC sells Sugarbush and then Sugarbush buys Killington. That's one takeover of Killington I wouldn't mind.

Loon added Upper Northstar and Bear Island By pass to the new trails getting Love. Only trail that can have snow made on it and has not is Big dipper. Time to build some more base and ask mother nature to make at least a token appearance.

When I saw the word "significant" in the question I was not sure if this ski area qualifies, but when I drove past Mountain Creek on my way to work this morning, they had guns going at the south summit.
