Which ski areas are still making significant snow?

The realistic truth about that world snow machine vs. todays modern fans and the superior nozzle designs is that the output likely isn't that different, but the snow surface quality is VASTLY different. Anyone remember skiing on the man-made HEDCO snow back in the early 80's??? It had roughly the same surface characteristics as your standard hockey rink!

True, I believe it needs temps around 0 in order to make good snow.....but, having about the same as 4-5 Polecats on something you can just drive to where you want it is still pretty cool.

Sundown was blowing snow all over the place last night, the word on the snow phone was that they were blowing it all day too. :snow:

You ain't kidding! Many towers firing on Gunbarrel, 6 pole cat cannons on Exhibition resulted in a veritable blizzard there. Some resurfacing on Stinger. Those are the only runs I skied or could see from the lift tonight.

A little snowmaking and grooming porn from the NSAA (national ski areas association) show today at Mt Snow. Basically the NSAA is a giant manufacturers display show for ski area management. Photos courtesy of Chris Lenois the Mt Snow communications director

Hunter is still making snow on The Milky Way today; guns are now off on Minya but they have been turned on again on East Side Drive. They're deepening the base on the eastern/southern side of the mountain.

Mt Snow is getting ready (winds permitting) to turn on the guns for the 1st time this season on Plummet to get it open for the weekend.

I think you saw about the end of the snow making for the season. They have a ton of snow now! :snow:
