Saw Bruce's opening show of his tour last night in Hartford.

The new stuff was nice to listen to, but Bruce really should devote a few shows to only the classic E Street Band stuff. Because the old tunes they played (Badlands, She's the One, Born to Run, etc.) rocked.

Better get to work now.

If you'll drive all the way to Hartford just to catch Springsteen then you definitely need to head to Sundown some Wednesday night for some runs with the AZ crew! ;)

I saw him solo acoustic on the Ghost of Tom Joad(sp?) tour. Awesome. I've seen him 4 times since then. One of the best live shows going, I think.

The "Reunion" tour that Springsteen and The E Street Band did in...'99-'00, was just that. The shows were pretty much a "Greatest Hits" thing because they didn't have any new releases since Born In The USA in the early-to-mid '80's.

They always rock the tried and true songs of old because...well, because they're tried and true songs of old that they've played thousands of times. I've always liked the newer or more obscure songs live. By the end of this tour, the songs from "Magic" will rock as much as those old gems.

Ummm... guys, I can't believe I am the first to inform you...

Bruce is a no-talent-a$$-clown. 80% of the music he has made is complete crap. Furthermore, he is from my home town (no Marc, not the one in Kazakhstan) and he has a reputation for telling off fans that approach him.

How about that, not exactly a large town. Maybe he got grumpy in his old age, or I am misinformed. Anyway, I am just stirring the pot. I don't like his music, but it doesn't mean its bad. Actually, it might even mean that its good.

I was never a huge Bruce fan either..but to be honest, the older I get, the more I enjoy his music...especially the classics. Now, I'm not sure if its me...but the new album, although heralded to be back to the E-street roots....doesn't really sound it to me. (at least the few tracks that I saw). Oh, but Clarence is definitely an over-rated sax player. The thing with him is that very few rock and roll bands have a sax player.

Yes, and it was packed.

My buddy Karl got the tickets and they were nose bleed stuff...section 204, row DD. So we go get a beer and Karl says, "I have good karma snagging seats in the VIP section down near the floor". We got there and I thought he was kidding. He picked seats in section 104, row K, seat 7 and 8. We were 17 rows from the floor and 1 section from the stage. No way we were going to stay there. Folks came and sat on both sides of us. But we never moved and stayed there the whole show.

I was amazed.

Like I said, the new songs were nice to listen to. The whole show was great.

But the old mid-70's stuff totally rocked The whole building shook once when they stopped playing and the crowd was chanting the lyrics very loudly...then the chanting got about 10 times louder.

He wasn't grumpy...a few times he went right up to the crowd at the front of the stage and slapped 5 or shook hands; he played his guitar there on his knees and the crowd was holding his knees and once he just let about 5 people play his guitar in the middle of a song.

Clarence was moving very slowly and seemed to be dragging his left leg.

A few times Bruce had to pry him off his seat to play center stage.

But towards the end of the show he seemed to perk up and he always smiles.
