Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown, New Hartford, CT
Conditions: cold (0*F at start, about 20*F at finish), clear skies, light crowds, powder and packed powder
Trip Report: Left late due to not wanting to get out of bed and got on the hill around 9:40AMish. Saw Jeff skiing down while I was in line for the lift so I waited at the top and skied with him. Stuck to Nor'Easter to Exhibition the whole time. Snow was nice and powdery EXCEPT on the bumps. Jeff and I both tried the bumps on Nor'Easter and they were funky and a bit slick. On Exhibition, the bumps in the middle are now wiped out entirely, replaced by a field of ice. Slick in between the bumps. I made some half-hearted attempts on Ex today, but didn't really get anywhere. I was having some great turns otherwise, though. Head cleared nicely, too. Eventually, we met up with Tim and Randi and skied a few runs with them before calling it quits around 1:30PM.
Glad I was shoved out of bed this morning and went, in spite of the cold. My toes were frozen for the first hour and a half but other than that, I was fine and they did warm up eventually. Thanks for skiing with me, Jeff, Randi, and Tim!
