I wear a beard about 80% of the year a goatee 20%. I do go clean shaven occasionally for a change. When I shave off the beard, I typically leave the most ridiculous stache I can for a night to piss off the fiance.

Don't get me wrong though, some people a stache works for; just not me. Magnum PI I am not.

But he's #2 all time with the stache, so that's tough competition for anyone.

Had a rather full goatee this last ski season. Told the wife I would shave it off after the ski season was done. She couldn't wait. I then left the soul patch, or flavor-saver, just to mess with her. Hey, she cut her hair!

Nothing embarrassing there, Warp. I think you looked like just about everyone else in the late 70's.

Thanks Greg it was actually 1971 -- had that stache and do for 13 years ( '69-'82)then shaved it off on vacation and my kids didn't know me -- the Queen hated the stache BTW

wifey liked it, I couldn't get that razor going quick enough when I got through the 2 months she wanted me to try it for!

wow - Ty and your wife are total opposites. She can't stand facial hair, absolutely refuses to allow me to grow any...

That being said, before I met her I had all sort of beard/mustache combinations for many years. What I will say is this:

I had a stache for about 10 years, and a former GF (not Ty unfortunately) asked me to try shaving it off..

I did that, and then proceeded to kiss her like BF/GF will kiss...

Well let me tell you - without that catarpillar on my lips, kissing her was like a religious experience (in a VERY good way)... I vowed then and there to never let facial hair come between myself and a good romantic kiss with my GF (now wife)

YMMV...

I've had a goatee for the past 11 years. I shaved it off once, and mrs root freaked.

Every year, I stop shaving the day after christmas and let a full beard go until I get the ultimatum...

Outstanding! The wood paneling really gives it that 70's vibe.

And for the record, I'm 32 and the only thing I can grow is a 5 o'clock shadow after 2 days. If I tried to grow a 'stache, I'd look like a 14 year old with a dirty upper lip.

And I still get carded at times when I buy beer. I had one clerk laugh once when I showed ID.
