We are heading up to NewH and thinking about hiking into Tucks. Is is worth bringing my skis along and packing them in?

Based on Trailboss's recent reports and the weather we've seen the past two weeks, if there was more than 200 vert of skiing to be had on the biggest patch there, I'd be surprised. If 200 vert is worth the extra weight on your back, bring your boards.

Looks very good for this time of year! I have skied the end of June on far less. If I didn't already have plans, I would certainly be up there this weekend. Maybe the July 4th weekend for me... planning events with friends and family but I think I should be able to swing at least one day next weekend for 100 feet of patch skiing. Based on reports I have seen, I suspect this weekend will be the last "safe" skiing before the patch starts melting out at the edges.

Keep an eye on T4T. If you have the room, you have nothing to lose. One observation I made was that the streams were beginning to erode the snow two weekends ago, that said it was fun!

How far is it from Concord area?

Well, 2-2.5 hours I'd say depending on how you went. I guess you'd either go up 93 to Bethlehem and then 302 east to Route 3/116 (I think) north to Route 2 in Jefferson, then Route 2 East to Route 16 south, or take the Kancamagus from 93 to Conway and up 16. You can't get there from too easliy from Concord.

I've found the fastest way from Concord for me is 93 to exit 35, Rt 3 north through Twin Mountain to 115, across Rt 2, and down 16. Usually takes right about 2 hours.

That is the way to do it. I can get there from Ashland in 1.5 hours at the speed limit so add another 40 minutes from Concord at the speed limit and it is just over an hour without risking any tickets or faster if you are a gambling man. Cops are pretty frequent in NH though on and off the interstate.

If you're itching to get a few turns in and you want to get in a nice hike, I will say go! Was there today and it was a lot of fun. Hiked up Right Gully and put on the skis about 30-40 yards below where Sluice and RG meet up as the snow in that area has collapsed. WTSN and LSGR still made for some nice turns! Nobody else was there! I will post some pictures tomorrow.

We bumped into a hiker coming down TR Trail and he told us Tuckerman Ravine was closed. We were like, yeah, okay!

Another reason I'll say go is because the waterfalls look great right now!

Have fun! :daffy:

Snowmonster--you know you want to. Another breakfast at Joe Dodge. Besides, what else would you be doing on a nice Saturday?
