New likely possibilites: Whaleback, Pat's Peak, Dartmouth Skiway, Butternut, Mohawk, Ward Hill, Bradford, McIntyre, Jay

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen Bradford (my local hill) mentioned in the same breath as Jay

I've gotta hit Burke this year. Will shoot for Smuggs but that's out of day-trip range for me, being on the wrong side of the Notch. Also want to try Whaleback some evening for their last-two-hours-cheap-skiing deal on my way back from MRG ...

I used to hit Bradford with my kids when we lived 20 minutes away.

I am really, really gonna try to get to Cochrans this year.

I have a real hard time getting myself excited about going to McIntyre. I don't know what it is, maybe because it's practically downtown.

Trust me, you don't need to explain to us why you have trouble getting excited about McIntyre.

It serves its purpose well (that's where I first put skis on), but I don't think it should be on anybody's list of "Must Do's".

Bradford -- 15-20 min from me, 30 in snow -- serves its purpose too. Both my boys took most of their lessons there and I'll volunteer to be a monitor for their school's ski program, maybe tally a few free days that way. I've also been there in as much as 20" of powder and while it lacks steeps, powder turns are powder turns.

As for other smaller areas I should hit, Suicide Six is at the top of the list (especially after your TR last year, Bill -- even though you didn't have optimal conditions that day IIRC). Also ought to get to Yawgoo Valley someday to be able to say I've skied RI, but that's a fairly long shlep for me for what it has to offer. And I have not yet skied in CT -- anyone know any mighty mountains there?

Yeah, found that an amusing list myself! Bradford is gonna be one of my afterwork adventures! Figure I can get Nashoba and Ward hill that way too. Picked up Blue Hills last year which is closest to the office.

Suicide Six is a lot of fun. Has some charming old style trails. I skied there for the first time 3-4 yrs ago. Mainly went to add to my list and because I could get a $5 ticket. We've gone back each year. It's small, but fun. We try to get a bunch of runs in to make the cost/run seem really silly! Great place to ski with younger kids. I'm not sure I'd pay walk-up price, but as long as I can get my hand on a discounted ticket it'll stay on my list. It's also been pretty good crowdwise on weekend days. have been their during college races and it doesn't get insane.

In the plan:

(95% certain): Solitude, Snow Basin, Powder Mountain UT
(80-85%) Winter Park, Copper (long time amiss)
(75%) Windham, Hunter (long time not been)
(50/50) Big Sky
(<50%) Bretton Woods, Waterville Valley

There're a bunch of others I "may" hit if I can find the time (and snow): Magic, Jay Peak...

I haven't posted in this thread yet, because so much is uncertain, I wasn't sure how to express it. I like this approach (even if my resorts pale in comparison).

(95% certain): Mountain Creek, Cannon, Wildcat, Hunter
(80-85%) Sugarbush, Sugarloaf, Camelback, Sunapee, Ragged
(75%) Saddleback. Loon
(50/50) Magic, Jay
(<50%) Bolton Valley, Burke

Really? REALLY! Wow, hard to believe, given your wide scope of NE experience. Had to check thesnowway.com to be convinced for sure! Wow!
It has become my running joke (re: really) because I say I am going to ski Smuggs every year and it just never happens for various reasons. This is the year though. Really!!!

A lot of my "plans" depends on what combo of discounts packages I found most advantageous for each season, taking into account of my work schedule and other personal/family limitations.

The "to do" list is always longer than my available vacations! (amazing considering my vacation has grown steadily but still can't keep pace with my skiing wishlist) So I have to pick and choose which one I "plan" to do each year to achieve the most skiing for least cost.

I've never been to Killington, even though it's only about an hour away. I know that the Big K has its detractors here, but I'm going to be looking for a deal to go down with my son and check it out.

I'm one of those detractors at times but K is must do once for the shear eastern type ski circus and access road nightlife.
