I'm polski and I disapprove this thread.

Looks like much of NNE will mostly dodge the bullet this weekend anyway. SNE, well ... I am saddened to report that my local hill, Bradford, announced (today I think) that with the snow conditions and rain forecast, they're now closed for the season. But farther north I'm confident some of the best skiing of the season is yet to come.

Personally I'm aiming to keep sliding into June.

That's the spirit. I did disapprove of this thread. Now I appove. I hope.

Yes....I do agree with some others sentiment. We are scheduled for our annual trip to visit some friends at Stratton this weekend. I have always said...you cannot outguess the weather in New England. If you want to ski, just go and hope for the best. A lot of the time it works in your favor. I was away all last week...and we're taking the little ones..but I spoke to my buddy last night and we're still planning to go....(keeping fingers crossed and hoping for the best). Worst case scenario seems that my buddy and I get up super early tomorrow and make some turns solo and then hook up for some off-hill activities with the kids late in the afternoon and on Sunday. Northern New England ...as Win, said, seems to set for another gorgeous Spring ski weekend..just like last. I was at the 'Bush last Sat. and it was glorious.

Sorry for the radio silence Alpine People. I have had the absolute BEST ski season of my life. I have seen Jay Peak twice this year(trying for a 3rd). Saw Sugarbush, Smuggs and Killington for the first time. Had an amazing blue bird carver day at Gore, an equally beautiful, but way more visceral day at Whiteface. A smattering of killer Stratton days, and a few nights shredding Jiminy Peak. As well as a few days over at Mountain Creek, just to keep the legs loose. It truly has been epic. All made possible by my amazing girlfriend, who shares my passion, and willingness to drive from my house to where the snow is.
Now you understand where I am coming from, I ask you this: IS IT ALL OVER AFTER THE RAIN AND WARM TEMPS COMING THIS WEEKEND!?!?!?!?!?!?! (3/13-3/14)

Time to go west. No excuses.

Go/No go

Yeah-Tough call, or easy call, if you look at it the other way. Like Marc says-if you want to ski just get in your car and hope for the best. I've had some real good days skiing in light rain/drizzle-soft snow, no crowds etc. Pouring rain is another thing though. Thats always been my plan for cycling-if the weather looks iffy, just get up and drive over to the lot. Its the times you dont go that it clears up 15 min after the ride has left and later everyone tells you how good it was. However.......Its a 4 hr drive for me, and I'm off all next week. So I'll see whats left on Monday. Good Luck Guys!

HPD - would love to hear how that plays out. I'm planning for the following weekend (3/20 - 3/21) and had intended someplace in VT but looking at weather predictions on NOAA , which projects rain accumulation in inches, it looks like Whiteface could be a better bet. NOAA is saying 1/4 - 1/2 inches and up to 1-2 inches for some spots down south -- Catskills/Berkshires/So VT -- and the projection seems to change every time I look. But it's consistently projected as .1 to 1/4 inch hits for Lake Placid, and up at WF altitudes that could be not a problem or even something good.

WF didn't get any rain on Sat. and 12 inches of snow (at the summit, less at the base) on Sunday. So it all worked out pretty good.

Hindsight is always 20/20......

Mt. Snow received about foot of snow over the course of the weekend. I'll take a net gain over a net loss. Woohoo!

While in line getting coffee this morning I hear one guy say to another "Thank god all this rain wasn't snow"

I'm not a violent guy, but I did want to smack him in the head

I was at berkshire east Friday and there were some bare spots starting to pop out. I'm sure the rain did a bit of damage to their snowpack but they will close on Sunday anyway.

Somewhere along the way I said "I wish this was snow. At least you could do something with it." Killed the total conversation. Woulda thought I was in church.
