I'm finding it much more liveable now that I have 84mm undefoot vs. 70mm, that's for sure.

I don;t think anyone exactly "loves" slush and spring conditions over midwinter conditions. it;s tolerable though and being able to ski it will lengthen your ski season past when most are putting the skis away and looking toward spring time pursuits. saddest thing is that it usually signals that the end of the season is near.

however, having experienced the 2 extremes this season, I defintely skied more and enjoyed the springish conditions I had in France in March over the midwinter conditions I had in Aspen in January-both trips were devoid of new snow. Maybe I was just in better ski shape by that time too.

Trip to Aspen, rock hard pack as it had not snowed in 3 weeks, exposed rocks, bowls were not inviting, cold, bluebird days-could have saved 1000$ and stayed in the NE.....got a cold sore for my trouble.

Trip to France-fairly good coverage from snow the week before, when things softened up the snow was good. skied well past 5:00 each day. got a racoon tan for my trouble.

of course the best trip I got was in February to Utah-snow every day!

For me, its a lot more fun on a board than ski's! :)

I think I'm hitting the beach this weekend, and then a few more weekends on snow before the summer wax....

Definitely can't agree on this one. I think bumps are best as slushy as possible. Slush explosions in the mouth rule! Usually, a few passes through a line results in corn troughs which is where I usually end up. Some guys are good at straight line skipping on the mushy tops. I'm not one of them...
Ask 2knees about bumps that are too slushy. I believe he experienced some today at Okemo. He said the troughs were full of water--with rocks underneath.

Definitely found my 110mm waist Rossi S6s to be helpful in the very soft snow. Not that I'm a prime example of skiing those conditions, but they floated over everything beautifully.

i really really really appreciate my "wider than i used to have" 84s in snow like yesterday, i'm sure wider would have been even better. my buddy had a pair of 70mm rossi skis yesterday and i tried them for a couple of runs. was very happy when i switched back.

The fact that I have them is fairly ridiculous  but they helped. Much better than my other options, which were sub 80mm.

I waxed the skis after skiing Friday. Made a nice difference for Saturday. For me, the biggest problem is all the crap that gets mixed in with the snow as it melts. Still, the weather this weekend was unreal. It felt like I was skiing in June.

The wax you guys suggested worked very well, and we had a ton of fun in the slushy bumps at Mt. Snow!

Uhm, I think his bigger issue was the lack of pitch. I've skied with 2knees enough to know he like his bumps soft. Rock troughs aren't exactly soft...

It's not that the bumps themselves were too soft--my point was that there were ponds in between them. And yeah, rock troughs aren't exactly soft. You said bumps are best as slushy as possible... I think there is a limit when there gets to be too much meltage between them.

Bump skiing crossed with pond skimming sounds mighty fun.

Killington on Saturday was the warmest day I've ever skied. Still wasn't too slushy to enjoy, and I don't think you'll find a single negative comment from this weekend's skiing.

I love it when you hit a slush pile, and some cold wet slush hits you in the face, and cools that sunburn down for just a milli-second!

I've never seen anything quite like it but when your friend said it was rock underneath, that expained two things.

1) why there was a puddle. the melting snow couldnt drain out fast enough creating the 2 foot puddle.

2) why that particular line hurt like hell.

I heard a lot of complaints about sunburns.

Count me in this camp. Dunno what I was thinking. Sunscreen all over my face but when I took off my long sleeve layer, didn't think to put any on my arms or neck. Stoopid.
