Usually, the downtime on our family vacation gives me time to let my mind wander a bit, and it started to focus in on skiing. That excitement for the upcoming season is starting to set in a little bit. Could be less than 3 months for some of you. I'll probably aim for one day in late November....

Yes, I am getting pumped.

For college football.

I try to hold of TRJ (The Real Jones) until at least the first frost.

In the meantime: Go Bucks!

We're looking to get some trees down in VT. Our neighbor had a logger over on Saturday and I chatted with him. He was saying a lot of stuff was happening a bit early this year....maybe it's a good sign.

Riding a couple of chairlifts at Bromley this past saturday at their Sun Mountain Adventure Park upped the stoke level a few notches, as did multiple long stares at the mountain ops buildings at Mount Snow, Stratton and Bromley - the site of groomers and snowguns, even in their summer "resting" mode - a definite increase in the jones factor! :)

I'm pumped to get as much MTB in as I can during the next month, before my wife heads back to school. Mountain biking has been so good around here this year that I really haven't thought much about skiing at all yet. Even after a few hikes at Sundown this summer all I was thinking about was how cool it would be to ride my bike up and down the mountain.

I've been itching for ski season, since June. I'm getting ready to sign up for the my local ski clubs trip to Utah. We're still trying to figure out where we are going to ski in New England this year. The kids get their "seasonal leased" skis next month. Now, I just got to get back in shape.

Just had a great on the water summer weekend. Lost 15 lbs so far that hopefully I won't have to carry around next season. Sure, some ski conditioning exercises are starting to loom their head, but I'm still in full summer mode. I'll get pumped in mid October. Maybe later. Right now it's time to go get some fresh picked corn, lay a salmon steak on the grill, watch the twin fawns that come to graze each evening at dusk, bike around the resevoir and think about where on the coast I'm going to go to this week end.

I just bought a new board. It was on sale for $143, so my stoke factor is brimming highly!

This summer has been brutally hot and humid, but I'm still looking forward to more mountain biking especially in the Fall. Hopefully August won't be as brutal as June and July. I love Fall weather. Can't wait for fall weather riding in Vermont. I'll get more excited in late September/early October for the ski/ride season especially during and after Columbus weekend...

Began planning for SLC trip while we were in Stowe last weekend.. Everyone was complaining about how hot it's been ;) Lined up the croo. Now where to ski... Alta for starters....

btw, At Stowe, absolutely nothing going on as far as the trails or lifts, they are pretty much good to go. Now, the monster hotel just keeps building and building. The performing arts center is just about complete.

The "no tractor trailer" signs at the base of the notch on 108 just seem to get larger and larger each year. Apparently there was another one a year ago.

We heard about one getting stuck there around the 4th of July when we were hiking at Stowe. Idiots!

Our club does what I believe is called the Super Pass (Snowbird,Alta,Brighton & Solitude) 4 days of skiing. You can add a 5th day for $50. It's a 5 night trip, which work out well for me. This will my first trip out west, so I'm way to excited. Hell it's only August.

When are you planning your trip Bill? I went last year, and it is on the cards to go again (a friends sister lives there so cheap accom!). We went in Feb last season and while I loved it, April would've been off the charts. So we are debating whether to go Feb or April next season.

We are just beginning so no date is set. I want to go when there are copious amounts of powder (or as they say in the east, "too much snow!") Most of my March trips to the Rockies in the last 4 years have not had a lot of fresh pow. Must be me. So we are looking at Jan-Feb right now, doubtful we could manage December.

It will be untethered Dads so we don't even need anything nice, but we're not staying in bunkhouse, that's the limit, so we are scouting out some nearby towns. A shower would be nice, I suppose ;) The target resort(s) and days are TBD, though Alta is on the list, that's all we know right now. We'll figure out the pass situation (yea, I learned about super pass) and lodging once we know where we want to hit. We're trying to keep the costs manageable since we are sending multiple kiddies to college right now.
