While two of their division rivals have winning records, Alexander's Pizza continues to maintain a healthy lead for the Gold Division's top spot. Last week they continued their march towards perfection with another big offensive outburst.
Rob McCulloch led their attack with five hits including three consecutive triples, while Dennis Bolton, Andy Lamb, Dan Posternak, and Jim O'Keefe all added four hits, to carry Alexander's Pizza to a convincing 21-5 victory over the Five-O's, and improve their record to a perfect 8-0.
Steve Pratt and John Hunter both chipped in a home run and two singles, and Stu Woodward contributed a triple and two singles for the winners, which has now scored an average of close to 22 runs a game so far this season.
Ken Laxague had three hits, and both Dennis Mazzone and Scott Brugelman had two hits for the Naturals.
After dropping their first three games of the season, Metro Contracting caught fire and won their next three contests to made a significant move upwards in the Gold Division standings. Last week Metro Contracting continued their recent surge with another winning effort to move above the .500 mark for the first time this season.
Ross Tolman was their hitting star with four hits, while Steve McDonough, Dan McDonald, Mark Bellino, Frank Torrez, John Canata, and Sal Serio all added three hits, and Eric Steinkrauss chipped in two hits, to help Metro Contracting score four runs in the fourth inning, and three runs in the first, third, and sixth frames to defeat the Five-O's 16-11, for their fourth straight win and improve their record to 4-3 this season.
Paul Zagami had five hits, and Mike Reimer, Phil Lehoux, Bob Waters, Ed Haffner, Steve Williams, and Waxie Johnson all had two hits for the Naturals, which fell to 2-7 this season with the setback.

John Devlin and Mike Sokolski both supplied most of the offense with three hits each, while Bob Dicicco, Ron DiVincenzo, and Jack Jackson all added two hits apiece, to carry Stone Meadow to a 6-2 triumph over the Naturals, and remain tied for second place in the Gold Division with a 4-3 record.
