:)

Kinda how I felt when my nephew turned into a snowboarder.......he is, to this day, one of my favourite people to hang out with on the slopes.
I love him and support him but secretly wonder if he'll ever hit skis again.

....you people crack me up.....

I can't wait for the day when we are judged not by what we strap to our feet but by the content of our character..

I have a dream...

My oldest son wants to snowboard.

So you think something is "wrong" with him?

God, you make it sound like your nephew turned into a werewolf or something.

I too wish everyone would just give the snowboard/skier BS a rest already.

It's all joking around. I'm teaching my kids to ski. When they get older and want to try something else I'll have no problem with it.

I know it's mostly in jest - but it is getting a bit old.. And it's gotta come from somewhere.. So as much as people like to say it is a joke - I do believe that they do hold some negative feelings towards riders and those feelings bubble up as humor.

jmho... carry on...

Kids should learn to ski first if possible.. It's easier for them... And it spares them from the veiled dislike of the sport by older skiers for a few years... :)

2nd of all... Why is Warren Miller even relevant? I thought he wasn't even part of the movies anymore?

I realize we're overlapping into the death of radio but around here, they have been talking constantly on the radio about WME's "Wintervention" (though they conveniently drop the "Entertainment" and continue to mislead people into thinking WM is still involved). At least one of the two big rock stations has been giving away tickets daily for over a week... And it's made a big deal of every year on the radio.

Maybe that's dating in and of itself... Radio instead of MP3s and iPods and satellite radio. But it's not totally irrelevant or unheard of, is my point, even in the non-skiing community.

I suppose my parents should consider themselves a huge success: never took me skiing a day in my life, neither of them know how to, but I know of WME (and the fact that WM is not a part of WME). ;)

honestly, i think its a generation thing. i had to teach my kids the proper response to "Who ya gonna call?"

i'm sure there are plenty of ppl here who don't know "That's a negative Ghost Rider, ___ _____ __ ___"

thankfully i'm not so old that i miss the Lawrence Welk show :)

Sometimes it is fun to ponder what changes in skiing and ski areas and ski culture and ski technology would or would not have taken place over the last 20 years without the snowboarding influence.

Some people sound like the equivalent of tea partiers...."I want my sport back...". Even if they think they are funny or cute.

That's not a failure. It's more like your kid coming out of the closet. You love them and support them, but you're still a little sad about it.

That's funny...I thought the same thing that the thread was about going over to the dark side. ; ) I like your take on it.

1st of all - you should be so lucky..

Just teasing about the snowboarding thing. I'd be happy no matter what, as long as they were getting out there. But the thread title is like a big softball that just begs to be hit!

Thats not too bad. Now if he told you he wanted to become a snowboarder that would make you a failure:razz:
