This is why I would likely buy a Snowbird pass over an Alta one. That and I would like to be able to be social with snowboarders.

Doesn't Snowbird stay open as long as they can?

And as long as the business supports it. Even out in SLC, there's tend to be a shrinking interest in sliding on snow once the 2nd half of May and beyond arrives

They will still be open weekends right into June though I bet.

It was empty when I was out there the 1st week if April. Almost seemed there were more people biking UP :-o LCC and BCC then skiing. That said Snowbird had already announced operations thru Memorial Day and the snow wasn't stopping. Even the hardcores get very selective about thier days. Plenty of warm weather activities to be had out there as well.

I just got back from 5 days at Snowbird/ Alta...simply incredible coverage. When I got there Thursday afternoon they just dropped the rope into Pipeline bowl after bombing the hell out of it..I skied almost knee deep first tracks..the rest of the week it snowed several inches a day. hiked Baldy, the chutes where so filled in that it was almost easy...the day I left it was pouring but ended up picking up a foot of heavy snow. they have over 170 inches on the ground now.and great deals at the Cliff lodge. I split a room and ended up paying $370.00 for 4 nights plus 2 sets of lift tickets to Snowbird/Alta combined...the deal of the year!!

My buddy who lives in Summit County, CO feels this way. While he loves skiing he's just sick of it and is ready to ride his mountain bike. He'll still go out on a nice day with some snow or on some really nice spring corn days though.

I looked into this last month-i believe that deal(April 1st to end of season) includes 2 snowbird chair lift tickets per day. so between 2 people it;s great. plus they had a free upgrade to include Alta upgrade, although they are not open on weekdays now.

4 people even cheaper to split the lodging but the other 2 have to buy their own lift tickets.

it;s still snowing out there! if I had the vacation days.....plus i went to Utah in the last weekend of March...

Well isn't the main reason behind Alta closing so early even with so much base, is that their forest service permits don't allow operation beyond X/XX?

They do have a lease but I don't know what the details are. Obviously Snowbird is in the same National Forest. I know Solitude was closing last weekend. Don't know about Brighton.
