Since there was a lot of doubt about me going 70+mph at Sunapee the other day.. which I still stand behind and in the future will prove one way or another ;)

What trails or runs on what mountain do you think you could safely (or maybe a little bit dangerously even) achieve a very high speed?

What run / where / how fast / let's hear it!

Considering WF has hosted World Cups and Olympics in the past, that's the first place I'd list.

Tucking from the top of White Nitro?
Prob its not just a function of the steepest pitch but also how often you would need to set an edge and turn. Also length of trail that would allow you to maintain the speed

I remember when I was a kid going really really fast on Hurricane at Pats Peak, probably approaching 72mph.

I've driven 75 in a car before, so obviously I can compare the two speeds directly.

Setting an edge is one thing, but if you can plan the line the whole way down and make just a few super long arcs.. I think its possible to go just as fast or nearly just as fast doing that compared to a trail that's just super steep and you tuck it the whole way down.

You gotta have long stable skis though

Kidderbrook at Stratton is a good trail to really let them rip. I don't know how fast I've ever gone on ski's but I doubt I've ever gotten close to 60.

Here at home, Nile Mile at CBK is another great trail to let them rip. The 3 turns make it feel as if you are running a Super G.

I dont have any way to gauge my actual MPH, but I know where the fastest I've skied occured:

In the East: @ Stowe - Nosedive to Lower Nosedive (absolutely perfect trail for high speed)

In the West: @ Lake Louise - Downhill course. (at last chair I strategically waited until ~4:05 to start)

Coming down Competition at Berkshire East when I was probably 17 or 18 I was gunned at 60-something.

Can't remember exactly I want to say 64mph

This was not racing the gates, this was just bombing the run

That's about 1100 feet of vert, maybe a little less, more or less a straight shot downwards except there is a hump halfway down where you definitely lose some speed but then you can regain it on Lower Comp and have time to slow down before crashing into the lodge

I think the fastest I've ever gone was on World Cup at Okemo

This should be a list of trails that are at minimum of 125 ft wide, 600' of vert, consistant 30%+ slope, two or less intersections, groomed.

Then you will want a speed suit.
Bonus points if you show up dressed like this:

Avalanche at Cannon. I have hit 57.9 there. GPS measured. Had a bit more in me but checked the speed because people were around me. My 1 year old is doing a speed camp on Avalanche Thursday and.Friday and they will use a Radar gun on him. interested to see how fast he will go. I figure he go 50-55 MPH. Last year we had a 12 year old girl hit 76.

Wow, that's impressive. I was proud when I brought my 21 month old son out in the snow last weekend, walking around on skis, but maybe I should bring him to Cannon and push him down the hill.

Its so crazy to see really young kids completely bomb down the mountain.

Low center of gravity and no prior injuries for the fearless win!
