Never said that it made it right. Bring things back to an amateur level again. Take the $ out of it.

See what's left.

Nothing would be left. Even when it was amateur, there was money in it. At least it is out in the open now.

I used to think there were some sports where athletes could advance on their own abilities alone. I used to think, for example, that soccer players could get to the top of the game without much of a money investment, and that skiing was a sport that takes tons of money to get an athlete to the top. But now I am learning that a top youth player has to be in a very expensive program, and travel to distant tournaments, to even catch any consideration from a college coach.

Marathoners are interviewed immediately after a race.

Marathoners have no problems being interviewed pretty much immediately. Sprinters are the runners that need a couple of minutes.

The winners' level of fitness is so far above a regular person's that it is hard to imagine that the race is more like an easy day, considering their training cycle. Especially after months of 140 mile weeks, followed by a couple weeks of tapering down to an easy 40 or 50.

Run a marathon in decent fitness and you will see that the really hard interview would be after waking up the next morning.

Benedict: In regards to NBC Sports Network, it is owned by NBC Universal which owns a non-controlling minority interest in Universal Sports. The Universal Sports network is operated independently of NBC Universal and its parent Comcast, so we are in no position to comment on the status of what NBC Sports is doing.

Thinmann: You just showed us the evidence, “heads up their asses” is a profane term and we don’t define profane strictly according to “Carlin’s list.” Furthermore, we were in negotiations with providers before January 1st, but since the network was being given away for free, they had little incentive at that time to start paying for it. Lastly, we aren’t trying to make fans do our job. We are doing everything we can on our end to make these deals happen. The way distribution deals with TV providers work is that providers see there is a demand for the network and think it will help them gain customers or provide them with a better viewing experience. Since the network has been free for 3 years they haven’t had to do the research necessary to determine consumer demand for our sports content and they just won’t take our word for it. The purpose of asking our fans to call their providers is to demonstrate there is an audience to support our network just as there is a fan base to support ESPN, The Tennis Channel, The Golf Channel, Speed Network, etc.
