Are there any active/productive Carpool/Rideshare sites/boards for skiing/boarding? I see a few for the west and the ones for the east are dormant. I'm doing a roundtrip to Stowe this weekend (Thurs PM to Sun PM) and can take some riders.

I'll hopefully be at Stowe Fri-Sat. going solo. I'm not in your neck of the woods, leaving from NYC, but it would be nice to meet at Stowe. Also I'm leaving early Wed (tomorrow) morning. My plan is to ski K tomorrow using my pass, Mt. Ellen (Sugarbush) Thurs for their $6.50 50th anniversary pricing & then Stowe Fri-Sat with a 2 day $69 ski club appreciation day ticket. I'm impossible to reach except in the evenings at our lodge on a land line so meeting would just be by chance. I've never owned & hopefully never will own a cell phone. I'll be wearing a black & grey Bogner parka, black pants & orange boots..

I'll be at Stowe Sat-Sun as long as the conditions look decent. Maybe I'll see you all there.

I've looked for a resource like this intermittently myself. Since I often make day trips by myself it seems like a good way to cut down on the most expensive part of skiing lately -- gas. But there doesn't seem to be anything out there for the East. Like you said, the sites/boards that are active are all strictly out West.

I guess there needs to be a certain level of volume to get this kind of rideshare thing to take off. In Wash DC area there is an emerging network of independent cabbies based on a mobile phone app called UBER ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uber_(company) ) . Seems like a variation of that model could work for skiers, but there has to be enough interested riders/drivers in reasonable proximity to make it practical.

I also figure that JDRoma and I should double our ski days and keep the gas $ at the same level next season.
