ShockerI'm at North early, ready to go, hoping to take runs before work and GMX is "delayed".
Damnit.
Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Of course all the GMVS folks are on the hill already..Shocker
No pivot to Inverness/NRX? Webcam shows no activity at GMX base, other than lifties walking to lodge...and no activity around NRX base. People queuing up for Inverness.
Yes, because they paid a ton for the purchase and installation of the t-bar, and they pay a high daily rate for the operation of the t-bar, as well as for the extra snowmaking (and snow guns), and the groomer and operator, the latter two not owned by or employed by Sugarbush. And a t-bar almost never goes on wind hold, unlike the chair (which is on windhold now).Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Of course all the GMVS folks are on the hill already..
I'm well aware of GMVS' financial investments into the t-bar and snowmaking.Yes, because they paid a ton for the purchase and installation of the t-bar, and they pay a high daily rate for the operation of the t-bar, as well as for the extra snowmaking (and snow guns), and the groomer and operator, the latter two not owned by or employed by Sugarbush. Yes, Sugarbush/Ikon passholders pay money as well, but not nearly the premium the GMVS folks pay, specifically for the one lift and 1 trail (and sometimes 2, once everything else gets snow made on it), on top of their passes (which are full IKON, not the high school rate).
I hope they can run the lifts; with this wind and extra fluff, there will be great snow to be found in the usual pockets. All trails open to hiking...
Or it will sit until tomorrow...
Wow. He's a bada$$ geezer! From Virginia no less85-year-old skier makes return to Vermont slopes
Despite hundreds of miles between him and the mountains, one out-of-stater is defying the odds to reach the summit.www.wcax.com
Right on.I'm well aware of GMVS' financial investments into the t-bar and snowmaking.
All lifts at North are now listed as "delayed", not wind hold, although based on how breezy it was this morning I'm assuming (lacking any clear communication from Sugarbush) it's a wind hold.
(at 9:29 am)...Its odd. Nothing from the video feed shows wind. The chairs on the summit feed are dead still, as are the trees, and the trees are still snow laden. One would think there would be some visible sign of the wind. They're making snow on Upper FIS and it looks like it's sticking to that trail and not off into the woods.Yes, because they paid a ton for the purchase and installation of the t-bar, and they pay a high daily rate for the operation of the t-bar, as well as for the extra snowmaking (and snow guns), and the groomer and operator, the latter two not owned by or employed by Sugarbush. All listed as 'delayed' not wind. Inverness was wind 20 minutes ago, now 'delayed'.
Maybe power issue? If t-bar running, maybe not? Odd that there appears to be no activity around any of the lifts (snowmobiles/lift maintenance).

On days like this they REALLY need Tommys Toy to run. Then at least they could claim that all terrain is open and accessible with a short hike from the top of the lift. The app lists Mt Ellen as closed at 10:27.
