I'm 27, 6'0, 195lbs, advanced. I converted back from the snowboarding a few years ago and I'm ready to buy some new boards! love the bumps and glades but need something that handles well on groomers too.

Any advice on what to demo and what size? I'm thinking about trying the Solomon Scrambler Hot, Atomic Metron 9 and Volkl AC3.

thanks

I've had a pair of volkl's and atomics in the past and loved them so I'm definately trying some of their skis. Are there any other model's of the Volkl or Atomic that i should look into?

I'm close to your size (OK w/ 20 extra pounds).

Last year I was looking to ad something wider to my one ski quiver (Atomic 9:18 w/ a 64mm waist). I wanted something at least mid fat. Demoed some out west and found I really like the Dynastar Legend line. The 8000 is an excellent (and very popular ski) probably too wide for an everyday ski here in the Neast for someone just getting back into it. I would take a serious look at the Legend 4800, a very versatile ski with good edge hold, wide enough for occaisional pow and strong enough for crud. (I ended up buying a new pair of discontinued Intuitiv 74's because I'm all kinds of cheap and I love them in all of conditions here in New England.)

As much as I like Atomics I found the Metrons (M9, M11) I skied to be a little squirley at speed .

Try the 4800s when you demo and good luck!

I started skiing on Fischer AMC 76 skis earlier this month. The waist is 76mm, needless to say they are much wider than anything I’ve owned before.

I like them very much in/on all conditions. In powder, old snow, mashed potatoes, or crud they perform very well. Occasionally on hardpack they develop chatter when applying heal-pressure edging at mid-high speed.
