Is AZ doing a Nastar team this year? My wife's hot to register, adn if we're going to do it, might as well do it under the AZ banner, right?

2006-07Nastar Racing

Yupper, we'll do teams again this year, I will start a new thread for 06-07 once we decide on a structure.

Our teams from last team persist into this year (see for yourself). Given the low but certain turnover of our members, it might be best to nuke the team entries and make people re-enroll.

If you recall, you can only be on one family/friends team, but multiple club teams. Club teams are much larger, the dynamics and comparisons are different.
I was thinking about making more f/f teams of 6 this year, perhaps we can start to compete amoungst ourselves. It takes 6 enrollees to get a ranking for f/f and 15 for clubs.
Note: the Wachusett night league team is really in a different "league" usually comparing against each other, but we still can compare our team to theirs.

I'd like your comments on :
a) Erasing all entries and starting from scrach.
b) adding multiple friends/family
c) just keeping one large club team (top 15 count).

The risk in having too many teams is that you don't get enough people racing to qualify for rankings.

Remember, these teams are for FUN, and you race Nastar whenever/whereever you want and your scores count to the aggregate. Oh and by the way, going to the Nationals at Steamboat is a real BLAST. There is a lot to do and see, people to meet, food to eat, music to listen to, autographs to be had, so set your sights on it!

Snip:

General enrollment guidelines:
For those who can't join the family/friends team (because you already belong to another family/friends team), try adding a CLUB TEAM under your profile. Select "Alpine Zone Virtual Club Team" [Club teams have up to 15 members.] Hint: it's preferable to join the Family/Friends which has only 6 members on a team. Your team only gets ranked against other teams when you get to those magic numbers- it's easier to get to 6 than 15!]

Biilski... We statred this late last year and learned it as we went along. What ever works the best. Re-registering seems like it might confuse stuff. It to so long to get it right the 1st time. Your the point man on this. The descion is yours. Just the Friends and family club teams I think confused people last year. Maybe we can be better at it this year. Either way you help and efforts are well appreciated.

Should we get a poll going of who is interested? I've awakened the competitive monster in my wife, and she wants to join, no matter the team/club/etc. She's pretty good at the whole skiing thing.

Inactive members do not detract points. Club or F&F are unlimited in the number of people who can be on the teams. I propose that we just leave the teams as they are, and the active members will rise to the top for the rankings, and give AZ a better overall rank.

Billski any way to post what we had and whom was in it last year? Kind of giving an over view.

It looks like there is no past history on the club from last year. I wish I had kept a snapshot of who earned points for us.

Tom makes a good point that zeros do not detract (unless you are below the 6/15 thresholds). I was figuring that after a few years, we could have a lot of list clutter. Maybe it doesn't matter.

The bigger question is whether we need more f/f teams. We are only one shy of creating a second f/f team.

hmm. that's a good thought. I don't know if we have critical mass of readers back yet. I'll develop something nonetheless. It may have to be more than one poll.
