I'll be there this Monday (2/6) and again on 2/13, but not on 2/20, as Bob said.

Does anyone else know of any other Mondays they know they will not be able to make it?

Can I get a headcount for this coming Monday's race, please - ??

I'm in, so that's one.

Bill ski. I would love to hook up for a run. I will be there Sunday. Charlie, I'll bump into you I'm sure. I ski with a couple of guys every Sunday morning. North Peak 1st thing and then to the double.

I'll keep you posted. Look forward to it. If I'm with my entourage, I'll be bridled to a much lower speed, so a handshake may have to suffice. (No complaining allowed: as long as we're out doing runs....)

p.s., Be CAREFUL where and when you use the term "hook up". For the youngest generation, "hook up" is an idiom for having sex.

Showing our age, eh?

I should be able to make all but 3/6 which I believe is the last week before the finals... :(

Billski. Can't teach an old dog new tricks. Been 20 plus years since I tried to hook up. Just part of my vocab.

Mine too. I just mind the company I keep. I have to catch myself when I'm around my kidz, lest they suffer major embarassment!

One more spot, anyone can join! And to get into the top 150, we need just 17 more points. On the average, each person needs to gain only 1.2 points each.

There are three people who haven't had the opportunity to race yet - we need ya - get out there and go for the gold!

I added Scott from the Pat's peak AZ team so we could have 15.

Also our scores will go up if Pat's ever posts our results from the past two weeks.

Thanks. Good grief, 2 weeks is like an eternity in this short, eastern ski season. I would politely give them another reminder. Tell them you need the scores for nationals qualification by the 20th, blah, blah, blah. With all the Nastar they do, it's important for them to get the scores loaded asap (that's the nastar promise).

Scores are loaded, but somehow I got two scores again. Give it time andthey'll merge the scores. I put in a request to Nastar. I have given up on Pat's and just realized that each week I will have to merge my results.

I wonder if they are just registering our 2nd best scores or days. I was confused. My state ranking is based on the 2nd best time. I'll never get this and Tree_skier is tired of trying to explain some of it to me.

OK...I've avoided this for as long as possible, but like Warren Miller sez...blah blah a year older when you do it. *sigh*

So I haven't "JOINED" the AZ virtual team (yet)...I'm racing @ Wachusett on Wed nights and, as a first year racer am totally stymied by the handicap numbers.

I'm 50. My handicaps are there for the reading...37 to 51 for a bronze. How the hang do I apply the handicap to my time?...Divide by zero and take the square root or what? It might help motivate me if I can see what the hang srt of improvement I have to show so I can get a frickin medal. *sheesh*

Maybe if I can contribute more than a "Finish"...I'll be motivated to join (erraahhh..drag down) the Virtual Team.

Don't ask me.....

I think they take your time on each coarse and figure out what percent behind the pace setter you are. 19 handi cap 19% higher. I could be wrong.
I think that is what tree skier tried to tell me.
You get a handi cap on each run and they take your best... Well thats how pats does it.
Math is not my sport (just register.) Bill ski can give you more info also.

Sky: you need to get within 51 % of the par time for a bronze. Say the par time is 22 sec. You need to be within 22 *.51 = 11.22 seconds of the par (time of 33.22 or less).

To elaborate a bit: the pacesetter has a handicap set at the pacesetters trials, theoretically how much slower than Daron Rahlves they are. Let's say it's a 7. So they race and get a time of 25.63. The par time is then 25.63/1.07 = 23.95. You need to be faster than 23.95 * 1.51 = 36.16 for a bronze.
