Is he on this forum too? You all should know what kind of thief this person is:

a quote from K-Stormchaser's post:

Ok, I'm beginning to understand what this is about. And I think I understand I've made a mistake. I dont know if or how to fix it other than to own up and take my lumps.

i was trying to score free gear from some ski contests, and submitted a cool photo i found here

ive started talking to md9 via pm

if he want this to be public, i will let him do so

Wow. I just spent the better part of an hour reading that thread.

Since AZ is my only experience in an online community I'm ignorant about stuff like this. It never occurred to me that someone would attempt to profit from stealing another person's pic from a forum. I'm guessing it never occurred to me because I would never think of doing something like that.

i read through all that last night.

what an unbelievably stupid and dishonest thing to pull.

i did manage to get quite a laugh out of the post where he describes how he skied the chute in the stolen photo.

I guess if you tell enough lies, the line between fantasy and reality can get blurry.

On a better note, the long term forecast looks pretty damn good.

Hey Greg, is this you?

K-Stormchaser: Seeing as you won't be frequenting your favorite ski forums anytime soon, you are invited to come join the mayhem at ALPINEZONE! We are a forgiving lot, and I personally feel bad at the shoddy treatment you have received by the pack of wolves here. It's not like you're the BTK killer or anything. Invent a new name and come on over and register! We welcome an east-coast ripper such as yourself.

i recently watermarked everyone of my photos. even though deep linking photos without permission is not good netiquette, many people do it any way without even referencing the page the photo was swipped from. at least if it is watermarked, people know where the photo came from and who the credit should go to. when you run a free web site, you don't do it for money... so proper credit is the only currancy you hope to receive for your efforts.

K-Stormchaser's a hell of a skier and a pretty good guy. Unfortunetly he did something really stupid and got caught. Not that it makes a difference, but you guys remember the skier in NH that killed himself running into a tree last year, that was K-Stormchaser's brother.

Just my opinion, but let it go already. No one would know if I was Stormchaser registered under a new name. This is a message board, he got caught and I am sure he is pretty embarassed. We have all made mistakes. Let it go and lets get on to more ski talk.

Stealing someone else's photo, submitting it in a contest under your name, and then accepting the prizes is not a mistake. A mistake would be forgetting to close your gas cap, or forgetting to remind your brother or something. This guy made a conscious decision to steal someone else's work and receive credit for it.

Am I the only one who thinks this is much ado about nothing. So the guy took a photo and won a pair of skis with it, big freakin deal. Sure Id be pretty pissed, but the original owner of the photo wasnt going to enter either contest stormchaser did. That point alone makes me wonder why he would even think about legal prosecution. Whats he going to do, sue a guy halfway across the country for the value of some skis? Itd cost more in travel costs and court fees than what its worth. Its actually kind of comical. Frankly, part of me only thinks hes actually pissed because the guy won something with the photo when he didnt even think to enter.

I want to be clear that Im not sticking up for stormchasers actions, he was a idiot. That being said, who gives a.... We all post photos online and this is the risk we run frankly by doing so. If you want to protect your work, dont post the pictures at all.

this will all be forgotten once the resorts open, people have DSB right now (Deadly Ski Backup) known by another name if you arent having sex, and they are looking for anything to keep themselves occupied
