There is a big gap between the top 2 and #3. But I do enjoy the Cat and will go back this year without a pass. I'm willing to try the 'Nut.

Agreed. Not sure how Wawa compares, but I'd imagine Jiminy and BEast are easily #1 and 2 in some shape or form. Butternut is decent. Very flat, but great snowmaking and grooming.

I'd probably slip Wachusett into third place.

2. Wachusett (at least the trails have some turns in them)
3. Jiminy Peak (3 minutes up, 30 seconds down... trails are mainly wide straight boulevards)

i'd have to include closed areas otherwise i only have one.

Brodie
Butternut
Mt. Tom

Man, the patrollers at mt tom were hyper sensitive to anything resembling air. If your skis left the snow for a millisecond they would be all over you.

I honestly don't remember what Mount Tom was like, I just threw it in there to be different. ;)

Interesting. We had several of them at Magic. I think that (at Mount Tom) was more likely an order from management.

Even though I went to school in the Berkshires, the only place I sked there was Jimininimininy. I don't think it even resembles the same place now. (Jericho was a glade.)

Of the places I've skied:

BEast
Wachusett (far from my favorite place to ski, but they do a heck of a job with what they have.)
Bradford
Blue HIlls
Nashoba

You gotta get back and try B-East again! Big changes in the last 12 years.

And if you bring some pudding, maybe the Cos will let you ski the remnants of Mohawk Mtn! Hey hey hey!

So far, I've only skiied at Jiminy, Catamount, Butternut, and BEast. Here's my list so far:

1. Berkshire East - best glade skiing south of VT, not crowded, great crusing, steep groomers and bumps as well.
2. Catamount - great access, not crowded, interesting terrain (steeps, cruisers), cheap.
3. Jiminy - waaaay too expensive, too crowded, everything seems the same (trails are too wide, short and lack character). At least there's some steep stuff here and the snowmaking is great.
4. Butternut - too flat and boring for my tastes, also too crowded. At least some of the trails have character, and it's very cheap.

skied at B-East this winter in mid-January and had a blast - only 25-30 trails were open, nothing in the woods but could tell immediately what everyone raves about - I really liked the place. Plus the owner (the father) was helping park cars, introduced himself, etc. no lift lines, will be back for sure.
