OK... I got a wacky idea, wear a neck support/brace. Limits your movement to look down on your skis. You can wear a scarf over it so other won't freak out.

I got inspire with that from hearing first hand and second stories that the us freestyle would wear styrofoam over their torso to keep the upper body upright and the hands held high for planting.

Um...........no. ;)

I forgot all about my looking ahead thing tonight until the last 3 or 4 runs. So much for working on stuff. This happens to me all the time. I get this mental list of things to do and then it all just goes out the window when I get on snow.

Hips forward & quiet upper body. Watching video of me is like watching one of those drinking bird doohickeys.

I wasn't going to say anything, but this is something I've noticed. You tend to really "headbang" when you impact and absorb a bump. Interestingly enough you do very little folding at the waist and your hips get pretty well forward on extension despite the head action. Very little else to critique at this point. You've come a long way already this season. Nice A&E, good solid mogul turns, nice stance. Just quiet down the upper body a bit and you're there. And as always, I'll include my disclaimer that this all comes from a poser hack bump skier.

I tried a 360 today for the first time since 2001. Guess what? I didn't make it  Got 270 though followed by a hefty hip and head check into the ground

I think I'll stick to spread eagles

My goal is to land one this year as well. 180's aren't that hard off small bumps...but I can't make it look that steezy quite yet. I need some time in the beginer park at Mt. Snow.

Staying out of the back seat in bumps- primarily through hands front and quiet, straighter line with better compression/extension. Any other tips appreciated...

in all seriousness, my goal is to fall more. i tend to ski in control all the time, i don't push myself enough. falling=trying, at least in my book.

don't get me wrong, i'm not looking to take risk and get hurt but i really need to push myself more.

So you want to fall more, but not get hurt. Good luck with that! I don't think you have to fall in order to push yourself more to get better. Just ski more outside your comfort zone, but do it in control. Live to ski another day!

roooooooar!

Still chuckling days later... but the visual could not be clearer...maybe I need to tether my elbows in to my side and rope the wrists together about a foot apart? Anything to prevent the very late pole plant when I am halfway through the turn which only gets me further back.

I think I'm done working on technique for the most part. I'm not saying I don't have room for improvement, but I just like to ski now without being concerned about it.

ditto...just want more mileage.

Always looking to get a little more air out of the pipe...oh, and remember where I left my nutsack when it comes to the big tables...would be nice to learn how to do a misty and a rodeo...but at 36, unless I head to a summer camp or a water ramp I'll leave that to the kids half my age. Guess I do have a couple things to work on.

Perhaps your joking but this is something I've seriously considered doing. Maybe rig the pole straps to allow for only a certain distance apart. I'm a major card dealer too.
