"Bend Zee Nees, Five dollas Pleeze."

In the early days of the Arlberg technique, it was always believed that the European instructors were best (or at least the most attractive to the opposite sex.) Prices were cheaper and advice was simpler then...

Sounds like something was lost in the translation...

When I was at St. Anton, I never found the Austrians interested in talking on the slopes. It was only after a hard day of skiing, which usually ended at about 11 AM, when they had a beer in hand and reserved the best chair on the sun-drenched midmountain lodge that they opened up....

Makes perfect sense. When I was an instructor one of the early concepts you try to teach people is to NOT lean back towards the Mtn even though your mind is telling you it's safer. So "lean into the valley" probably was probably his way of telling you to lean out away from the slope.

Actually ...

Actually the best racing coaches I have had are the foreign ones.

The best coach I ever had was from Colombia, she was quite the nut case, but I wouldn't have gotten where I am today without her.

OOOH!

Now THAT'S a GREAT PHOTO. Thanks!

p.s., great powder skiing at Loon today. It was quite a struggle as I spent the season becoming an accomplished ice carver.
