Any ideas on who'll have the most terrain open, best conditions, least crowds for Thanksgiving weekend? ( including Turkey day)

I'll third that. Sunday River is very agressive about getting as much terrain open as possible early.

I forgot to ad Stratton as well..two seasons ago I had great Thanksgiving weekend turns at Stratton..it helped that there was a foot of natural snow on the upper mountain..

My bet is for Okemo for most open terrain on Thanksgiving weekend. The other areas suggested are all good bets, but in average year, it seems Okemo always has the most terrain open that time of year.

By Thanksgiving, the most terrain closest to NJ I would guess is going to be Hunter if temps stay low enough for them to be aggresive.. I wouldn't count Jiminy out either if you can deal with the place. Next up- Mount Snow hands down... then Killington with Okemo/Stratton usually much further behind early on.

I have a feeling Thanksgiving will be good at most of the major NE areas this year.

The power of positive thinking, every little bit helps.

Sunday River is impressive so far this season. I would look to them for a quick expansion with lots of terrain. Killington is usually an early season leader as well. Hard to say what the crowd situation will be like considering the management changes. No more A41 and lots of buzz about Sunday River might actually mean Killington will be the least crowded option with the most trails.

How crowded is the Okemo on that Weekend ?

Moderately crowded..I skied Okemo Thanksgiving weekend in 2004 and 2005. Be booted up and ready to ski by 7:50AM..they usually open the lower quads a few minutes before 8:00AM and then you can hop on Northstar and get several fast uncrowded runs on fresh cord..5 runs in the first hour is not out of the question..Then as crowds start to pick up..head to the Glades lift or the Solitude quad if it's open. Eat an early lunch at the Summit lodge and get in a few runs after lunch. It's not the lift lines that are so bad that weekend..it's just the fact that there are only a few runs open and lots of little kids and gapers. You'd think it would be mostly experts early season but that's definitely not the case...The race academy kids are fun to follow around..
