In your opinion what is the best state for skiing in New England???? My vote goes to Vermont for getting the most snowfall in New England(at least the northern 1/3)...my favorite ski area in the east(Stowe), and so many places to ski, What state do you think had the best skiing in New England????:daffy:

I'll take New Hampshire - a good variety, ranging from smaller night skiing/snowmaking areas (ie Crotched) to great big mountain areas, such as Cannon and Wildcat.

VT for sheer number of good areas and great snowfall, but NH and NY are close.

VT hands down. I would like to sample a bit more of NH and some Maine... I really dig Gore and Whiteface but as far as a state by state ... I think I'll go VT.

Vermont hands down

From the quality of mountains to the quality of snow, Vermont takes this by far.

Vermont. Almost a silly question, not that there's not great skiing to be found in the rest of New England and New York...

Vermont, and it's all summed up like this: Sugarbush, MRG, Stowe, Jay, Magic, Smuggs, Pico, Burke, Snow, just to name a few of the finest. And don't forget Suicide Six, Bolton, Bromley, Killington, Stratton, Okemo, Middlebury Snowbowl, Ascutney, Cochran, etc.

With a lineup like that, I don't see much reason to bother comparing.

Not that the other states don't have some ski areas that are just as good or better. VT just has the most great areas and the most snowfall. Most VT areas got over 300" last year, and average more than 200" every year. VT's got the skiing thing going on :D

Maybe the question needs to be more specific. With areas such as Sunapee, Wildcat, and Gunstock, the scenery in NH wins IMHO. With a wider variety of ski areas, Pats Peak/Crotched, Gunstock/Cranmore, Sunapee/Attitash, Cannon/Wildcat, there's skiing for all ages and (ski) income levels, day and night.

Add in some non-lift served terrain (Moosilauke, *cough* Tucks), I think NH wins the cake.

Looking for a destination resort? Certainly more, and larger, options in VT.

The question is very general..which state in New England offers the best skiing.

Shouldn't the question be 'Which state in the North East has the best skiing?'. It doesn't seem fair leave NY out of the game, don't they have more ski areas than any other state, or something like that???

Maine, NH and VT all have some great skiing, by far the best east of colorado. With that said it is impossible to declare anyone superior to another.

Vermont: Best destination resorts, most snow

New Hampshire: Best variety, best value, most accessible, best scenery, the presidentials

Maine: Uncrowded, coastal storms, three of the best areas in new england all in a position to expand over the next decade

bottom line: the majority of us are lucky to have cannon, sunday river, attitash, crotched, sugarloaf, sugarbush, mrg, saddleback, burke, wildcat, killington, snow, pico, sunapee, smuggs etc, etc, etc within a days drive

none are really better than another but they all mean different things to each of us
