I don't really have an opinion on skiing under the lift, but a lot of other people I know don't like it. Trails under the lift can be assumed not to have much variety because they are usually long and straight. Actually, trails under the lift can be lots of different types of trails. Steeps, moguls, views, warm ups, whatever. But there are some great runs under the lift which I think are awesome.

RANGE VIEW, Bretton Woods (Great views)
HEADER, Killington (Great warm up run, my first blue)
QUANTUM LEAP, Okemo (Good pitch and views at the top)
WEST MOUNTAIN, Sugarloaf (The most remote trail I have ever skied, very unique)
UPPER WILD THING, Okemo (Great double fall line trail)

Lookout at Stowe
Liftline at Sugarbush
Black Diamond at Sugarbush
The Mall at Sugarbush
Right under the Thunder Chair(I don't know the trail name) at Jackson Hole
Chute/liftline at MRG

I always like to ski under the lift..especially first run on a powder day..I feel like I ski better with people watching me..

I love lift lines, mostly because they are narrow, steep and bumped. Gotta love having an opininated audience above you. I either ski my best or my worst on lift lines. Of the lift lines I've skied, here are my top ten:

  1. Chute/Liftline, MRG
  2. Castlerock Liftline, Sugarbush
  3. Redline, Magic
  4. Needle's Eye, Killington
  5. The Mall, Sugarbush
  6. Blackline, Magic
  7. Liftline, BEast
  8. Morning Star, Sugarbush
  9. Big Dipper, Loon
  10. Claire's Way, Hunter

Sheer Boom at the Loaf and Black Diamond at Mount Ellen also looks great, but I've never skied either. There are a bunch of sick looking lift lines at Gore too. Smugg's Liftline looks intense too.

Good list. My criteria for a good liftline includes a run with a relatively high-degree of diffculty and an often full lift making viewing a premium. For example, Tramline at Cannon is a solid run but can really get any props from the spectators above. Same for Tuckermans off of Jay (too short as well).

With that in mind, here are my top three(3)

1. Mad River Glen: Chute/Liftline
2. Killington: Stitchline (formely Needles Eye Liftline)
3. Sugarbush: Liftline

Honorable mention:
Mount Snow: Beartrap
Sunday River: Ruby Palace

Not sure if anyone can beat MRG for a good liftline bump run followed by three cliffs. Only drawback might be that you really need a solid run to get any props (being a single chair and all).

Ptarmagin at Attitash - part under the chair and part away from the chair but it has a great pitch and will separate the real skiers from the not-so-real skiers quickly. Finishes over 1/2 pipe so there's some entertainment value on the ride up in multiple spots.

Agony at SR.

I love watching people mash those huge VW bug sized bumps in the spring... pretty cool.

Not mentioned so far, but a very fun liftline is that under the Sunnyside Triple at Shawnee Peak, ME. It's not all that steep, but it's about as narrow as a liftline you will find....to narrow to get a groomer up it and has good bumps and a couple interesting rock features.
