For some reason I really like Showcase at Gore.

Alta Zero, Jackson Hole is really the best, but it doesnt apply. Thats a trail that separates the men from the boys.

Here's a couple pics from this past March 3rd. I'm hoping your right that they will keep it mowed. I just remember being told that it was now a bump trail.

Obviously you're entitled to your opinion about your favorite "under-the-lift" runs. If groomers are what you like under the lift, more power to you. I respectfully disagree, especially for that run at Stratton.

My perspective is that those pictures of Liftine look pretty damn sweet with the bumps. IMHO there are so many groomers at Stratton that letting that run bump up, especially in the Snow Bowl part of the mountain, is a welcome change. 95% of the runs at Stratton are groomers anyway so letting this one run bump up is a really nice change of pace. Plus the other good bump runs at Stratton are in that part of the mountain so it makes sense to let that run bump up as well. Just my $.02 however.

Hey, what can I say... I was never a good bump skier... My enjoyment on the slopes has always been the groomers and Liftline was a favorite... I could ski Outer Limits all day long if they kept it groomed.

All good points.

Here's a helmet cam video of the Liftline moguls the day before I was there...

Totally agree one million percent with Jeff on this one. Come on man, there are literally thousands of groomers for those who like them. Give the bump nuts something especially the lift lines so all the groomer lovers can drool with envy... ;)

All good points.

I could lap that all day. Multiple days.

Can't believe no one has mentioned this:
Northern Exposure- Sunday River it's a short shot but theres some pretty gnarly lines in there when theres enough snow.

Caramba and Ruby Palace are alright too.

And everything under the tram at Jay.

.......

it doesn't have a name...not a trail but it gets poached when there's a good dump. its one of those hucks that takes balls AND no brains...you land in a gully, I've never seen a set of tracks that didn't end in a big SPLAT coming off of that drop. save your knees and lower back for other places! ....
....Yes;-)...go too far and air off the big drop and there goes the rest of the season...
....I don't ski the River enough...have to get down there with more snow...
Prisnah: Northern Exposure...have never tried to do it....I take Sugarloaf's Bubblecuffer so slow it always has to be early in AM..;-)

OK Greg/carbonXshell..here comes one for the "Should have never done the trip" theme....
I've never skied the fiddle...wanted to in ?..88'?... Had $40 in my wallet, no credit card(s)(besides lift $$), slid on Rt.#4 ice(just off I-91..ended up with my Corolla straddling the wooden/cable embankment girder,..got out, walked back ~100yds to Mobil station for tow truck...while waiting @station..heard over 2-way of another outtastate car on girder but one Toyota that had gotten the 8-Ball-in-the-corner-pocket down the 60' embankment treatment...my car. Never overturned...at this point the heart is up in the throat.. Had just had enough $$ to get pulled up and accident info taken care of.. Turned around and crawled back to Boston...without skiing a minute;-)

I'd rather hit up ruby palace, caramba, or northern exposure for the natural terrain and small drops(all of them under chairs too)...there also used to be a nice early season drop under the skiers left of white heat but they fked it all up when they put in the new tower guns...you can still hit it but its not as big or smooth as it used to be. I tend to go skiers right on the heat now...there are some little airs in there early season that you can come off of and carry a bunch of speed onto the area below the headwall...just have to watch out for the "chocolate chips" in the lz and exit...and you need to duck under the rope they put above it...insignificant detail.

Agreed on all points. Forgot about that huck to flat, although if you hit it at just the right angle at when theres enough snow it can turn out quite nice. Quite a few of those flat landings at the Riv. There was a decent late season drop on the Heat last year too, skiers right, bottom of the trail near where shockwave and assumption dump out onto WH, had to carry a bit of speed to clear it though.

Wow, that is one heckuva story, luckily you were able to drive the car home. A friend wasn't as fortunate... one year on the way to Snow he hit some ice and went off 9... messed up the whole front end of the car... ended up having it totaled.

Crappy pictures, but Pats Peak Hurricane is a fun one to go over. If anything, to see the people who make the decision to take a stab at it, usually well beyond their means.. I believe a certain old man here tried it out once, and started doing terrain park tricks. :-D Sure, it's not a huge run, but for a small local mountain, a fun watch on the ride up.

Thanks for the pics! I've only been to Gore once, but all the ungroomed terrain was closed. We eyed a bunch of those lift lines as we were forced to stick to the groomers. One day I'll return when the conditions are better!
