Consistent with our feelings a couple days ago that computer models were in error bringing the large east coast storm too far east off the coast, weaker high pressure over Quebec and a system to the west that will help to slow the progression of this storm, suggests to me a 70% chance that many areas in Vermont/NH will have 1-2 feet of snow and you will be hearing others updating later. This storm has the chance to stall off Cape Code and be one of the most impressive systems since 1978. The winds may not be as strong, but some areas could see 30-36" in New England by later Sunday...

Jim is the man. He was right about November horrible weather in the August issue of the long term. And then right about the one-two punch before I was hearing it on weather.com during dinner at the 99 last night. That's all they talked about.

Now we are getting the updated advisory for the area:

Severe Weather Alert from the National Weather Service

...CALEDONIA VT-EASTERN ADDISON VT-ESSEX VT-WASHINGTON VT- WESTERN ADDISON VT- INCLUDING THE CITIES OF... BARRE... CANAAN... MIDDLEBURY... MONTPELIER... ST. JOHNSBURY AND VERGENNES 355 AM EST SAT DEC 6 2003
... A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR TODAY INTO SUNDAY FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST VERMONT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS UPGRADED THE WINTER STORM WATCH TO A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR ADDISON... WASHINGTON... CALEDONIA AND ESSEX COUNTIES IN VERMONT FOR TODAY INTO SUNDAY. SNOW WILL DEVELOP THIS MORNING AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES THROUGH TONIGHT BEFORE GRADUALLY TAPERING OFF SUNDAY AFTERNOON. TOTAL STORM ACCUMULATIONS OF 12 TO 18 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THIS REGION BY LATE SUNDAY.

I got up late today (late night) and figured the pow might be better Sunday morning. Still might take a few runs at Sugarbush around lunch.

Cheers, have a good snow storm everyone! Christmas comes early.
