BOLTON VALLEY, Vermorn -- Bolton Valley, Vermont's hometown ski and snowboard area, will open Friday for the season with top-to-bottom skiing and night skiing and riding both Friday and Saturday nights.

Recent cold temperatures allowed Bolton to fire up its snowmaking system, and the latest storm dumped more than seven inches of snow on top of the machine-made base to give Bolton Valley up to 18 inches of base depth and terrain suitable for all levels of skiers and riders.

"We've been making snow around the clock as temperatures have permitted and Mother Nature finally showed up to give us a hand," said Bolton Valley President George B. Potter. "We're really pleased with our conditions and look forward to opening with top-to-bottom skiing and riding for all levels of skiers and riders."

Beginner terrain will be served by the Mitey Mite lift and two chair lifts will take intermediate and advanced riders and skiers to seven trails from Bolton Valley's 3,150-foot summit. More trails will be opened as conditions permit. Lifts will turn at 9 am Friday and 8:30 am Saturday. Lifts will remain open until 8 pm both Friday and Saturday nights.

Bolton Valley is located just minutes off Interstate 89, convenient to Burlington and the capitol area. Vermont's only ski area generating power from an on-site wind turbine, Bolton Valley has announced a special Happy Holidays ski/ride week, Dec 14-18, with $5 of the $15 lift ticket price being donated to Vermont Children's Hospital at Fletcher Allen on all tickets purchased in advance by Dec. 11. Details, snow conditions and online purchase of Happy Holidays tickets are available online at www.BoltonValley.com
