If the resort has a hotel (e.g., the Jordan Hotel at SR, Sugarloaf Inn at SL), another alternative to the ticket window is to get tickets at the concierge/guest services desk. No lines there. I don't think you need to be registered guest.

RE: Sugarcard -- This was a good deal. There was also a discount on ticket rates. They used to give them away on AZ and at ski shows. I think Stowe has a similar product too.

No, once you had the media they were good from year to year.
True. No need to renew every year. I had my Sugarcard since the '06 season and didn't need to do any renewal in '07. Just scan and go.

However, when I first got my card, one of the conditions they told me was that it was good only until '08 (or '09 -- anyway, there was an expiration date). I was looking through the SB website last year and there was no mention of the Sugarcard in any of the ticket info. I found that odd since they promoted the Sugarcard heavily the season before. So, on AZ Day, I asked the woman at the counter what was up with the Sugarcard and she told me that '07 was the last year they would honor any Sugarcard. I guess they're not going to renew any of the cards this year.

That's what I was told. I'd like to be wrong since I think the Sugarcard was pretty convenient and was a great deal.

Win, how about keeping the Sugarcard around?

I hate buying tickets at Wachusett. The processing of their discount card system are so slow that with everything ready in my hand, knowing exactly what I want and with experience cashier, it takes almost like 5 minutes or more to buy tickets for family of four.

I hate it . . .

But I also hate buying tickets at Baseball Games and Concerts for the same reasons . . .

You're right . . . There should be a way to print them out at home . . .

There's a market for a Ticketmaster type company for Ski Areas.

About the Sugarcard - saw this on the Sugarbush web site:

New winter pass holders and ALL Sugarcard, Mt. Ellen, Mt. Ellen Plus, Youth & Child pass holders as well as all College Pass Holders ...will need to pick-up new pass media prior to their first day of skiing or riding during the 2008/09 season.

To pick up your Season Pass or Sugarcard stop by one of our Season Pass Offices, located at Lincoln Peak in the Gate House, beginning October 10, or at the Mt. Ellen Ticket Window beginning December 19, 2008.

I rarely buy tix @ Wa since I have a pass...but it seems to take a while when I give someone a coup. We'll be waiting in the bar for the guest to return.

I'm copying and pasting this one in an e-mail to Mgt @ Wa.

It really seems like there should be a kiosk for this transaction...just like going to the frickin movies. True the card-stock needs to be substantial...but it should be (if it's at the mountain) the exact same printer and stock as what they sell at the counter.

Swipe...Select Tix, enter # of Tix...enter...Done and Done!

That would be nice. This summer, I flew out of Logan using my new machine readable (non-US) passport. I didn't have any check-in luggage. Popped in my passport to the scanner on the kiosk. It instantaneously pulled out my reservation. Tap tap to confirm. Printed out my boarding pass for the international flight. All of this in less than a minute. Everything else about flying sucks but that was sweet.

I've had pretty good experiences at Blue Mt, just gotta get there early in the morning. Bonus points awarded for having the ticket windows indoors. Windham has enough windows open, it's outdoors and usually in the wind, but moves pretty fast.

Last winter, I got suckered into taking our nephew to Camelback (his friends ski there...). This was 2 days after I got back from a 9 day Killington trip. I wanted to shoot myself. Anyway, that process sucks. They have a bogus "buy online" scheme, but all that does it allow you to print out a voucher and take that to the "special" window where they print out our ticket.

I always thought it was weird that Blue mountain has their ticket windows indoors when almost every other ski area has outdoor windows. I only got a ticket once all season there at the bottom lodge when I redeemed the voucher on my new jacket for Phillycore. At 7:20AM there were 15+ people in line and they waited until exactly 7:30AM to start selling tickets and standing in the steamy lodge in ski clothes sucked..
