Forget video; if you really want to analyze your skiing try the Casio Exlim Pro EX-F1. It takes full sized still images at 60 FPS! You can take small video at up to 1200 FPS.

Just out of curiosity if 30 FPS is normal/life speed and most people shoot Slow Motion at 45FPS, what would the point of 60 or even 1200 FPS be? Not that i believe that any device is saving 1200 files per second.

Current high speed video is shooting at 60 fps. This allows you to do that with much greater quality, and it's adjustable so you can shoot 10fps for 6 seconds or 6fps for 10 seconds or anything in between.

The 1200fps is for very small sized video, not still shooting. It's writing frames of a video stream, not individual files. Not much use for skiing, but for capturing some type of very high speed action it's the only way. This technology was only available if you were willing to spend 10's of thousands of dollars. Now it's less then a grand and in a much more user friendly format.

Hey, I'm technology driven.

Nice shot! Shoot me a high res version of that. I'd like to do some color correction and see if I can clean it up a bit... contact@alpinezone.com

Thoughts?

just a harmless non judgemental comment but would any of you be phobic about carrying an expensive piece of hardware like this on the slopes? a dunk in the snow or river could render it a useless paperweight. i usually go the other way-cheap enough to be disposible.

other than that, it sounds like an awesome piece of "pro-sumer" equipment. amazing how far we've gone in about 10-15 years. a friend of mine does carry a spendy digital SLR camera with some large telephoto lenses on the slopes. he only brings it out on good weather days though.

Thoughts?

Colors look better, and I didn't think they were bad to begin with (if that's any indication of my photography savyness..). The crookedness didn't bother me until Michael said something...

Definitely an Awesome Shot with or without cleanup.

This is why I want a new camera.
A video of a run can be found here. http:///www.alphabluetech.com/kjhanlon/videos/JF3.AVI
And now why you can understand about the wind noise I am constantly complaining about.

gosh, these are some of the first ski shots that come close to replicating what it really looks like when you're out there. now for the blizzard pics :)

Was referring to the one he took. That was from the lift right?

I think you're referring to my shot from Little Whiteface (if not, sorry).

The picture was taken from the observation deck you can see when you get off of the gondola.
