I used to go Duckpin bowling in RI. We never had Candlepin - just Duckpin. I never realized there was a difference, though. So I guess I've never been Candlepin bowling then.
if you are coming to Malden soon, check out Town Line. It's a night club/cocktail lounge/bowling alley. Not positive if they have candlepin. If not, come up to the Wakefield Bowladrome on Rt.129. Depending on where in Malden you are, anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes to get there.

Leda Lanes in Nashua has the Kegler's Den. It's a great little (dive) bar. Was actually there last weekend but didn't bowl.
I was such a naive New Englander growing up that I thought tenpin was the old-style, dying out sport. Turns out that nobody west of Woosta' has ever heard of candlepin.

Wow, what made you dig this thread up?

Actually i was looking at google analytics and it showed a search term ('long island candlepin bowling') and that is how someone came to alpinezone. SO i went to Google to recreate the search because I thought it was such an odd topic.

Interesting coincidence. The only time and place I've candlepin bowled is Rockland / Camden ME, after a day at the Snow Bowl, and Saturday I found myself at the alley in Shelburne Falls, MA, after a day at the BEast. Fun stuff, goes good with skiing somehow.
