Hmm, trails with character...

At Killington:

Catwalk
Roundabout
Old Superstar
Great Eastern and Falls Brook for the scenery and winding path.
(somewhat) Devils Fiddle.
Vagabond and North Star

for the record, i have never skied rumble, goat, or starr.
well, interesting thread to revisit. finally got to sample castlerock trails this year and decided after skiing rumble twice that it is the best non-gladed in bounds trail in the northeast that i have skied (completely subjective opinion based on what i like in a trail). just the perfect combination of everything i love in a trail and one of the few trails the captures the old school spirit that can generally only be found on the few remaining CCC trails.

finally got to ski goat and starr, wasn't too impressed. not really impressed with much at stowe on the map but great terrain off the beaten path. great groomers of course of the gondi as well, perry merrill, chin clip, etc. certainly have much more character than the fabled front four of stowe.

i still like lower antelope best at mad river in the on map "character" division. though i generally try to avoid skiing on the map when at mad river ;) or any where else for that matter ;)

i found vertigo at jay to be fantastic. this was my first season skiing vertigo and even though it is considered a tree run, it is more like a series of interconnecting narrow chutes that dumps out into the trees on certain options. i like that 8-10 foot wide narrow chute type stuff. narrow twisty trails are my biggest barometer of character.

Has anyone mentioned alot of the trails at Magic?

Page 1 of this thread alone has two mentions of Twlight Zone. Great run:

I live close enough to Gunstock to night ski with ease and I give credit to: Tiger Steeps (very short but this is about character) and Redhat which they should not groom so much but it has some nice drops. I guess these fit the night skiing subcategory if there is one.

doug's drop - burke mountain

and although wide and impeccably groomed usually the dipper's at burke are a blast and a right of passage to blast them top to bottom

besides the early season laps I don't think I have skied a trail(non gladed) at jay in its entirety except for green beret - it has character

Since some people were taking digs at Killington I figured I would nominate these trails as Killington character runs:

The Jug:
Narrow, bumpy and steep at the Jug Handle. Also because it is on South Ridge it is usually empty.

Vertigo: It goes from really steep drop to narrow with lots of bumps.

Escapade to Flume: Totally meets critera for a character run.

Sugarbush: Anything off Castlerock, Paradise; the Mall and Spillsville to a lesser extent

MRG: Most of the mountain, but Fall Line, Paradise, Lower Antelope come to mind as having a lot of character, and Grand Canyon, Slalom Hill, and Catamount Bowl less so.

Killington: Roundabout, Catwalk, Flume, Powerline

Whiteface: Empire

Jay (probably don't remember enough of Jay's non-gladed trails, but...): Green Beret,
Upper River Quai, and Powerline; maybe Northwest Passage, JFK, and Kitzbuheul(sp?) (I'd have to ski them again to remember).

I think Muleskinner has alot of character, it's a bit of a slog to get to:

Dazzler.jpg

And it's quite removed from the trails on the rest of the mountain (far left):

Saddleback.jpg

But it's steep, narrow and lots of fun:

Yes! I've seen these pics of yours recently. All but the first one. Muleskinner looks awesome for sure. I remember riverc0il had a video of it from last season, but his site is down right now.
