Nice, one of these days I'm going to make it up to one of those work days. Sounds interesting!

EDIT: How's the single chair project looking these days?

Definately check out a work day some time. It really is a a great experience with some very cool people. Yes, Jay is certainly "good people". We are fortunate to have him leading up this unique effort (and I am lucky to have him as a neighbor!). Learn more about our mountain work days at http://www.treeskier.com/forestry/ and MRG's overall forstry management plan at: http://www.treeskier.com/forestry/index.html . This really is a tremendous document that Jay put together. Other ski areas and freelance cutters could learn a great deal by reading this. The infamous "Jay Cutters" certainly did NOT peruse this document!

The historic restoration of the Single Chair is really starting to take shape. The project should be completed and load testing performed by the end of October, early November at the latest. Well in time for the start of the ski season! The restored towers where flown into place. The new wire rope is being put in place today. The Drive station and bull wheel have been installed. Electrical and carpentry work are being finished up. The cable will be spliced next week and then the chairs will be hung. Check out the latest constructions pics at http://www.madriverglen.com/single_construction/

The Single Chair Capital Campaign has passed the $1.3 million mark, thanks to everyone who has helped us get there. The push is on to meet our $1.54 million goal. Learn more about this unique capital campaign at

Thread hijack to Austin and Marc. If you guys both have MRG passes this year (Triple Major for Austin I would assume) I'd love to ski with you this year as I will be in possession of one of those too once I sell my skis.

On another note if you do have the triple major I've heard that you have to pick it up at Jay. Can anyone confirm this?

I'll have some vouchers, but I won't have a MRG pass. My friends have determined for me that we will attempt to tour more days than resort ski this year, mostly because we're cheap. And not to speak from Austin, but anytime you want to ski the Glen, just let me know. I'm dying to ski it now.

I think I'm going to go to the other one on the 27th, as well.

Ohhh, I think I might be interested. I'm still hoping for some skiing that weekend though. Hopefully Rob and Johannus are going again.

Yeah, I have the triple major pass. I'll probably spend most weekends at a ski club 30 minutes south of MRG. The plan is to ski MRG one day and tour the other day. I now have an extra touring setup so if you are interested in doing some hiking I'd be glad to let you use it.

Basically the same plan for me except I will probably be skiing MRG a bit more than Marc since I have a pass.

You really don't want to look at this:

http://www.vertigo-aventures.com/chics-chocs-e.html

Even with a trip planned in March it still killed me. If you don't plan on going there any time in the near future I advise to not click on the link.

Thanks for the stoke, consider yourself off of my imminent ban list. ;)

BTW, thanks for the warning. If it wasn't for that you'd be banned for sure!
