Nice, one of these days I'm going to make it up to one of those work days. Sounds interesting!
EDIT: How's the single chair project looking these days?
Definately check out a work day some time. It really is a a great experience with some very cool people. Yes, Jay is certainly "good people". We are fortunate to have him leading up this unique effort (and I am lucky to have him as a neighbor!). Learn more about our mountain work days at http://www.treeskier.com/forestry/ and MRG's overall forstry management plan at: http://www.treeskier.com/forestry/index.html . This really is a tremendous document that Jay put together. Other ski areas and freelance cutters could learn a great deal by reading this. The infamous "Jay Cutters" certainly did NOT peruse this document!
The historic restoration of the Single Chair is really starting to take shape. The project should be completed and load testing performed by the end of October, early November at the latest. Well in time for the start of the ski season! The restored towers where flown into place. The new wire rope is being put in place today. The Drive station and bull wheel have been installed. Electrical and carpentry work are being finished up. The cable will be spliced next week and then the chairs will be hung. The Single Chair Capital Campaign has passed the $1.3 million mark, thanks to everyone who has helped us get there. The push is on to meet our $1.54 million goal. Learn more about this unique capital campaign at
