That's pretty slick. It was only off by about .75 of a gallon. I'm a little OCD about calculating the mileage. Our 03 Grand Cherokee gets about 20mpg on a typical trip to and from the mountain. According to my calculations, that's about 6.55 gallons one way.

I'm convinced skiing this year is going to be cheaper than sitting around at home. $40 or in gas or $150 at the Depot because I'm board and want to install moulding.

I claim BS on this site. It shows my 2000 Astro AWD can make it from Worcester Ma. to Sugarloaf for $31.27. :-o I wish. It also said ETA was 3hrs 22 mins. Also BS. My best time was just over 3:45 and that was going pretty fast. The route google maps showed had it going up rt.16 in NH, that would take me over 3 hrs to get to Wildcat. Sugarloaf has to be over 2hrs from Wildcat. The numbers just don't add up.

When I checked for my Bonneville it didn't even show the supercharged SSEI option.

Cool. Not too accurate, especially since there are some variables that can really affect mileage (how much you are lugging, is it raining/snowing), but it's good to get an estimate for the $$ spent just to get an idea.

Toll costs could add up too. I plotted a trip to Fort Wayne, IN and the fuel cost in my wife's Honda would be about $130-probably close. I think we'd spend $30 in tolls too. This does not account for depreciation and maintenance.

Or... you can do what I did last year and calculate what your car actually uses for gas when going to a particular mountain by tanking up before and after the trip. Using the odometer, you can calculate out your actual MPG too. Taken over the course of the season, you can work towards a pretty reliable average MPG and thus an average cost (pending gas prices don't change).
