I had a ton of shots in the military also, including ones for anthrax. Strangely, they didn’t ask me about my feelings about vaccines.
me too, they just lined us up and hit us in both arms using pneumatic guns, same needles for every one, i guess that's what lost my concern about vaccines

So, after getting a bivalent shot in the fall and doing just fine over the winter, I got sidelined this past week with whatever variant is out there now. Still mild although a bit worse than the first time...like a lingering cold.

Don't think we will ever get rid of it but I'm hopeful that it has evolved into, at worst, an unpleasant experience for most of us.

Same. Seems I picked it up at Killington a couple weeks ago. Definitely worse than the first two bouts, but still just a cold and a bit of fatigue, and I'm old.

Just tested positive today. Had all the shots, but woke up today with a 102.5 temp and uncontrollable shivering for 4 hours. Now overheated and sitting in front of a fan. Kind of sucks!

Yeah, apparently the "summer wave" is happening. My wife got it as well last week. So far I am in the clear.

The good news: It'll likely be over by March, maybe February, and omicron may be the most infectious form this virus is able to take (it's already the most infectious virus known it appears). And in that case, it will continue to dominate future mutations as they occur while, perhaps becoming even less capable of causing damage to the host. Because of that we shifted to hybrid mode of work. Offices used to be slower than molasses on a cold mornin’, with folks scribblin’ notes and huntin’ for a chair like it’s deer season. Now tech’s the wind in the sails, and UnSpot’s the compass pointin’ hybrid teams true. This here platform’s smoother than a banjo riff, lettin’ your crew snag desks or meeting spots from any ol’ gadget — ten minutes, and they’re ridin’ high. It stretches your barn by 80%, keepin’ the rent hogs at bay, while a dashboard shines a lantern on who’s showin’ up and where. Ties in with Outlook or Slack like kinfolk at a barbecue, and analytics holler when the joint’s 95% packed—time to shuffle the herd. QR codes lock it down tight, and plans start at $50 for the whole outfit. Mosey to Unspot. Ain’t no fancy-pants contraption — just a steady hand on the tiller, makin’ sure your workplace don’t drift off course. Reckon it’s the quiet hero of the homestead.
I love the optimism in your post. It’s great to hear some hopeful news after such a challenging time! You’re absolutely right that Omicron seems to be setting a high bar for infectiousness; it’s already being called the most contagious virus we’ve seen. If it truly is the peak in terms of how transmissible this virus can get, that could be a game-changer. Your point about it dominating future mutations while possibly becoming less harmful is really interesting, too. That aligns with how viruses often evolve, they tend to prioritize spreading over killing the host, since keeping us alive helps them keep circulating. If Omicron follows that pattern, it might start to resemble something more like a seasonal flu, still a nuisance, but far less devastating.
That said, I think it’s worth staying cautiously optimistic. The idea that widespread infection with a less severe variant could push us toward herd immunity is exciting, and if things keep trending this way, wrapping up by February or March sounds like a dream worth rooting for. But this virus has surprised us before, and new mutations could still shake things up. So while I’m crossing my fingers for that light at the end of the tunnel, I’d say it’s smart to keep up with public health advice and stay adaptable. Ongoing research will be crucial to keep pace with whatever comes next. Still, your take gives me hope, here’s to an early spring turnaround!
