I know AZ seems more like a skier's forum but I was just curious who both skis and snowboards and a guesstimate of what % skiing and what % snowboarding in your trip break down.

myself, been skiing entire life but decided to also get good at snowboarding like 8 years ago.
right now my trips are roughly 40% skiing and 60% riding.
depends on feel and who's going, it is nice being able to switch back and forth.

what about you guys.. stuck to just one, or gotten heavy into both?

23 years on skis and I have it in my mind that I would never not ski but I'd like to be able to Tele and snowboard proficiently. Its hard to take a snowboarding lesson cause I never want to give up my turns. Tele may come first.

Skied forever. Picked up boarding 10 years or so ago after a big fall and broken skis. I board 70% now. Although I have skied 100% so far this season (3 days). I ski when conditions are not ideal or when skiing friends are with us. Boarding has a better flow for me if that makes sense. On a POW day I will board 100% of the time. I always have both the skis and the board with me and I have switched it up mid day depending on how the day is going.
I define myself as a skier that boards most of the time.

Both here.

I learned to ski as a young teen, then starting snowboarding at 16... only skied maybe 2 or 3 times over the next couple decades.

Then, 4 years ago I took up skiing again so I could teach my kids. I found I really enjoyed it, although I'm not that good at it. I'm still a snowboarder at heart, and much more comfortable on 1 plank than 2.

I'll probably put my older kid in snowboarding lessons next season, if she wants to. Let her decide which one she prefers.

Both. I am a skier who took up boarding about 14 years ago when my son was 4 or 5. He is a skier and had reached the point where he could get around on his own; ride the lift, get up after a fall etc.. I started boarding so that I could hang on the greens and blues with him and not be bored. For the past several years I have mostly gone back to skiing but still board a half day here and there. Planning to do some more boarding this year .

Skiied 17, then picked up riding in 2005. Nowadays I try to squeez in at least 1 day of skiing each season, which's been difficult to convince myself. Skiing
tomorrow, though.

Did both in high school and college. Went back to to skiing in the end. I have enough trouble picking out which of my two pairs of skis to use. Throw in a board and I'll never know what to do. I do plan on renting a board this season. Rumor has it, some of the Mt Snow crew's kids may be getting into boarding. So who knows...maybe I need another board.

I began skiing in the 60's while in high school and continued through my college years. Pretty much gave up skiing due to lack of money and geographic location for many years. In the 90s I began skiing again and then took a snowboard lesson with my son when he got into it. I have not been on skis since the winter of '97, every year I say I am going to rent skis for a day and have not yet, maybe this year. I find I enjoy the sideways thing.

I go back and forth. Love 'em both. Usually about 70/30 board/ski. This year I have an injury that favors boarding, expecting to be 90/10 with any skiing come late in the season.

Skied for 30+ years before I ever tried a board. I was surprised how fast one goes from never ever to intermediate on a board. That said, I do respect that from intermediate to expert takes a good amount of time on snow. Bear in mind, I don't consider "expert" as someone who can merely get down a black diamond run as I can do that just fine on both edges of a board. Experts in my mind can ride any trail in any condition and can own a terrain park.

If the snow is great I always grab skis from the quiver rather than the board. Still can't see wasting good snow on a board.

Grew up skiing from about the time I could walk until I was about 13 then switched to snowboarding. Now after about 13 years of snowboarding I intend to get on a pair of skies this year. I would like to learn how to telemark. I'll be sure to post a trip report once I give it a go.

I've thought this way for a long time too. Maybe if I had 100+ days on snow a year I'd learn them all, but if I try anything in addition to skiing, I have always said it would be tele.

Both. I am a skier who took up boarding about 14 years ago when my son was 4 or 5. But as I've gotten older and am now contemplating having kids, I've heard people talk about this, as Crank did, so that you are going through the same learning progression with your kids. That kind of sounds cool!

I tried snowboarding and really enjoyed it. Id rather excel at one sport though than be mediocre in two, so ive stuck with skiing. Also, i love moguls and just think im better off on a skis for that. Been on em my entire life, im just so comfortable on skis, like walking.
