Hmmm...point taken. BTW, I totally believe in different strokes, but I have been thinking about stopping, that's what made me think of the thread. I wanted to see what other people thought about it.

Why stop? Does it take that much time? Is it "uncool" or too "geeky"? I stopped worrying about what was cool shortly after high school, and I definitely am somewhat of a geek so I'll keep right on logging my days as TRs here... ;)

I used to write down a seasonal total, but I also started collecting my lift tickets and passes in 1985 and I have a large collection at the present time. My son has also done the same and we like to compare who has which resort and Warren wants to ski everyplace that he see's.

The most precious thing for me is to have a son to share the skiing and love of snow with. He lives for cold weather and skiing just as much as his old man.

um.... only been back in it for the past 3 years, which almost coincides with when I joined AZ ,so I guess I kept track after. I'm tring to come-up with a logbook type of arrangement, like we use in SCUBA. Its a good way to look back and see how you prepared for certain conditions, or how some mountains handled weather conditions etc...

I do the same thing with my daughter, got all choked-up over an atricle in the latest SKI magazine that was about that as well. She collects lift passes and stickers for her helmet for every area we hit.

I started this year, mostly as a point of reference for myself (i.e. I was curious as to how many I got last year and didn't have any hard numbers) and because I want to see if I can hit 100 by the end of the season. Since I've also picked up an Alterra from HighGear, I've added vertical-tracking to the mix for more nerdy fun. I've found that it's also an encouragement on days when I'm on the fence as to whether or not I go out, and that helps because even on on-the-fence days I usually end up glad I went skiing by the time I come back in.

I've got a database going. I have a number of reasons for doing this. It started out as seeing where I ski the most, to help me determine my purchases for the following year with regards to tix or season passes. But then it just got interesting know how many days I ski, where I ski, with who I ski, the conditions, etc...

You sound like a geek. Do work on computers?:)

Andy can break dow the cost to cents per day spent.

I use a spreadsheet because I need to work a certain amount of days at WF and we are encouraged to keep track of the number and dates worked. I just add the number of free skiing days to it for myself, but I think I want to stop doing that. I’m starting to think it’s a pointless habit I want to break, although, the thought of agreeing with you on an issue is worrisome.

You've said you’re an instructor at Gore, if so you need to get a minimum amount of work days in too, don’t you?

Yep, 25 days . . . I usually ski a lot more than that, though, so I never really have a problem keeping the commitment . . .
